Pets IMO are true family members, so I feel very sorry for your loss, this must be SO hard on you and your wife!

I'm sorry about your cat ... I have a cat and two dogs, and I really love them.
A few months ago I lost one of my cats, the vet thinks he was poisoned, terrible :'(

Never heard of untappd, but it looks... interesting :) I hope you'll feel better soon, as a pet lover I totally understand how sad you can be. I lost one of my cats around Christmas (heart related too: aortic thrombus), luckily I still have the other one, and my dog.
Random fact: my mother has also a cat named Sam, a small black cat who is currently 18 y/o.

Sorry for your loss Mal, couple of years ago I lost my beloved kitty that was mine and only mine since I remember (she was born when I was ~6 and I used to hide them from ppl coming to our home who wanted to adopt a kitty and she was always with me ever since). She spent 17 wonderful years with me and I never loved any animal more before or after that. It took me 3 years to get a little over it and to be ready to adopt new kitties - they live with us now and there's again a little bit of joy in our home. So I hope for you that surely not immediatelly but with time you will get ready to open your heart for next kitty. It will never replace your Sam but then again - does it need to? :>

It is sad when one loses a loved one. And don't let people say pets don't matter.
I miss all my previous pets. Everyday something or another reminds me of one or more of them.

Probably why I didn't go out and get any new pets, just heartbreaking losing them.
Of course, my two current pets, were dumped on me by family.
Dog is nice, but the cat has a weird attitude, at least the cats behavior and attitude has chnged since I first got em.
