It might be a game with a story, but I wouldn't really call it story driven as it isn't the focus of the game. Just my opinion.

Deus Ex, Risen, To the Moon (best, BEST, story game)

Alan Wake Franchise, story is not perfect but story telling is incredibly good which makes up with it

Are the Call of Juarez stories that good? Most of what's in this thread so far is no surprise to me. I own them or have them on my wishlist. I don't prefer non-story games nowadays.
May add CoJ to list...

Well, the only one I've played was Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood. It was of course an Action game, however it did actually seem to have quite a good story to it.

When it comes to story-driven games, PST and the BG series are the two that define the genre.

Planescape: Torment is a rather obvious suggestion. If you have not played it, then you are in luck as the Dungeons & Dragons Anthology Master collection is currently on sale on GG, which includes it, Baldur's Gate 1-2 + expansions, Neverwinter Nights 1-2 + expansion & Temple of Elemental Evil.
Syberia 1 & 2 have really nice stories, and a beautiful art style. Highly recommended.
The Longest Journey & Dreamfall, two other obvious recommendations, but you really should play those if you want something story-driven.
Outcast might at first glance not look like another action game, but it actually has a good story, and a very well written world, that feels believable. It was an incredibly ambitious game, and it sadly sold poorly (but it has attracted a bit of a cult following)
The Myst series. Not quite as obviously story-driven as many other adventure games, the story is still there, and it is told in a far more subtle way than in most other games. A large portion of the story is told through the environments, and it does a rather good job at telling a compelling & touching story.
The Wing Commander series (3-5 in particular, not including Privateer, academy or the other spinoffs (other than Privateer 2, I guess, though that story is odd)). And on top of all, it has some of the best acting ever seen in games (don't know how to make a word bold, but seen is a keyword here). They managed to get some really good actors for these games, and it shows.
The Ultima series, from 4 & onwards. These games pioneered storytelling in games, and Ultima 7 still has one of the best examples of a game world that feels alive (forget about TES, Ultima 7 is where it is at!).
