As someone using both systems on daily basis for five months now, I'd say Windows 7. Win 8 pisses me off every effing day and if I didn't have to work with it, it would be long gone. I don't use it for rocket science but dear gods, I hate every piece of it starting with nonsensical UI. Who the hell came up with idea to place 'shut down' button under 'options' section and 'power', to be more specific? I don't want to mess with any options, especially power ones, I just want to turn off the freaking thing!
My mate told me it took him and his co-worker around two hours to work that out and they're IT, if I didn't mention at bar that I'm logging off first to turn off the machine because I have no bloody idea how to do it otherwise for two weeks now since I started using it, I wouldn't know how to turn it off properly for gods know how much longer.

Windows 7, who cares if it's not gonna get any more service packs, it's great as it is, look at windows xp long "life", there's tons of people still using it, hell, if some devs had not stopped making their games xp compatible(tho in some cases it makes no sense) i would still be using it. Just skip 8 and use 7 until 9 comes out.

i love how the operating system stability windows-wise is measured in reinstalls per year and unix-wise is measured in reboots per year.

I'd recommend going with 7, at least gaming wise. Most games have less trouble on 7 as they have with 8.
Otherwise performance wise, I like 8 aswell, but the handling is a pain in the a..

As someone that has tried both Windows 7 and Windows 8, I would recommend 7 more just due to the fact that 8 changed too much in UI that confused people a lot. If they had stuck it as a 7.1, I would have been recommending it.
And to all that reply to this about why 8 is better, please do not bother. While back-end it is generally better(except the fact you can't decide when the RAM clears up and a probable few others), most people are already used to the "standard" UI design that has been in use ever since around Windows 95/98, and change is really hard to do. 8.1 I would see, but I may still stick with 7 even then. Having an ancient Microsoft keyboard here means that upgrading is a definite no-go.

Windows 8 has better multi-core support, so it is technically better for gaming, if it actually runs all your games, which isn't a guarantee. Windows 7 is the stable platform. Personally as someone who uses Steam a lot, as I'm sure everyone here does, I'm not going to pay more for an OS that Gaben called a "catastrophe."

I'm asking for someone who has experienced both of them already, I'm planning on getting the Win 7 Ultimate, as I already know how that one works, but I also got the choice of getting a Win 8, I have never tested that one, so I have no idea what to expect, mostly gaming-wise~ (I heard some bad stuff about this) So? Opinions? :o
Thanks!
