We can't let the nonsense die, not when we're so close to the finish line!

Alright SG, we need to have a serious talk.
So, I have a few sites I frequent that I like to lurk on and take a look around, and I see the same thing every. single. day. Now I'm not a super confrontational guy, especially on the internet since... well, what's the point really? An internet argument's really just nothing more than two dudes yelling at a wall after all. But I can't hold my tongue on this anymore.
So I go take a look around these places and I see all these people with these anime women as their avatars. This is fine. I take no issue with this. Then they start calling them their waifus and declaring their love for these characters. Now, it's getting a little strange, but I'm a tolerant guy. I'm good with this too.
HOWEVER, what I see around all too often are these same exact people throwing their old loves to the fucking CURB whenever somebody shiny and new comes along. Some new waifu comes along and they forget all about their 'ol faithfuls, the cuties who've been there since day one, they get all "gah gah" over their flavor of the season vanilla- ass, garbage- tier girls who nobody will remember by that time three months later, they have these big-ass arguments with random strangers over who's the most "kowai" and spam their amateur fanart everywhere. Then, by the time the new season starts, these same peeps ditch 'em for the next pretty face they see because they have no sense of commitment. Good lord, I'll never understand this new wave culture that allows people to have more than one waifu. I mean, the occasional divorce and re-marriage is normal... but discarding your most treasured companion every three months is completely fucking despicable.
Now, you're probably thinking "But Mr. Citrus? What's this gotta do with us?" It's got everything to do with us. Sure, you don't see people talking on and on about their newest waifus, since this isn't that kinda site, and the respectable users here tend to do a good job of not falling into the trap of getting too attached to girls from the current season before you know who they really are, so it's not blatantly obvious on the surface, but I, for whatever reason, always notice these people who have these waifu profile pics. I always notice when I stop seeing these waifus. I always notice when I start seeing new ones. No callouts here of course; I DID read the rules after all, but these people are abandoning their chosen characters at the drop of a hat, and if there's one thing that makes me absolutely sick to my stomach, it's people who ditch their loved ones like these degenerates do to their anime girlfriends. Think about what this means: We have these uncaring, morally black deviants running around disguised in our own community. What does this say about our community that we allow this to continue on unchecked?
I propose that upon registration, we have all users register for a chosen waifu or waifu's name to appear next to their username in all appearances of their it as a sign of "This is my one and only", making sure to stress very clearly the importance of this choice as it can't be changed later to stress the importance of the decision, not just in your life, but in HERS as well. This will encourage waifu selection based on factors that truly matter for compatibility: things like backstory, personality, and timelessness of design.
With that being said, as the attached image, you'll find my choice: Michiru Matsushima, the only woman I've ever felt anything more than indifference for.
You're probably thinking "Wow Splashy, a tsundere? How passé." But to me, she's more than that. She's my first waifu, and my only waifu since I laid eyes on her back in 2012, and I wouldn't have it any other way. She was my first taken route in Fruit of Grisaia and I fell in love instantly. They say you never REALLY know love until you feel it for yourself and OH MY GOD it's so true. Sure, she's a goon and has difficulty being honest with her feelings, but I understand and accept her. I wouldn't choose anybody else. I love her for who she is and wouldn't change a thing.
Because this is Steamgifts, there's a train in this thread, and the star of the show in it is Michiru's game! But you'll have to wade through the collection of forgotten waifus of seasons past to find it. If I had to think about them, you do too. Maybe it'll show you how important it is to find a fictional character you can have something real with.
