As for the video game law regarding Hellas (i.e. Greece), as someone pointed out, it wasn't as clear-cut as that but, technically, what you said was not false either.
Basically, years ago (in 2002) when PASOK was in power (a pseudo-socialist political party which, according to WikiLeaks cables, was created, funded, and backed by the United States to basically control the country for the Americans and their geopolitical interests -- which it faithfully did for 20 years, in the process turning our country into a third-world state) the political establishment passed a law against computer gambling, especially against computerized slot machines. However, as the government was (and still is) made up of elderly and ignorant political puppets who don't understand technology, the law was written as a blanket ban against not just slot machines but video game consoles and computer gaming systems as well (as the fools could not differentiate between illegal slot machines and gaming systems!). There was a 5,000-75,000 euro fine attached to the law and imprisonment of up to 12 months for anyone who broke the ridiculous law. As a result, dozens of computer gaming centers (where people who don't have computers or very good ones can go and play computer games for a small price) were forcibly closed (and in some cases the computers were confiscated). The incident made international news and was even reported in PC Gamer. However, a few months later the law was changed.
Anyway, since the country is so backward (again, due to the political establishment), the effects were very localized (as police don't always enforce many laws): as far as I know, only major urban centers like Athens were hit. But, yes, technically games were illegal for a small period of time.
For anyone interested, here is an article that goes into the subject: In Greece, use a GameBoy, go to jail.

In Chicago it's illegal to fish while sitting on a giraffe's neck.

I've been doing a bit of reading lately and i stumbled upon this list of moronic and stupid laws from all around the world...
Some of them are funny, some of them are sad, i guess they all have a story but after reading those, i'm starting to think a lot better about my country, Romania.
As a few examples for the funny ones, did you know that in Atlanta, Georgia it is illegal to tie a giraffe to a telephone pole? It's funny because who owns a giraffe?
Or did you know that it is illegal to wear a bullet-proof vest during a crime in New Jersey? WTF...so...you're in a shootout with the cops but you don't wear a vest so you won't get a fine?
Of maybe funniest,in China, it is illegal to reincarnate, without permission from the government. :) Isn't that the whole point of the Buddhism?
And now a few less funny, did you know that in Greece, video games were illegal a few years ago?
Or that in Dubai is illegal to show any affection in public like kissing or holding hands :|
I'd write some more but i'm a bit sleepy.
Some world we live in right?
