So, last year I enjoyed playing The Witcher a lot, I mean A LOT, I was so much into the game and the story that I knew everything about weapons, quests, ecc...

But, right when I reached the middle of the game, I bought a new GPU, so I started playing other games, and then I've been busy with school and other things so I never opened the game again.

Today I decided to continue playing:

  • I found a lot of half completed quests so I was like "wtf is happening???"
  • I forgot everything about any in-game item and mobs
  • I forgot everything about the good story
  • I even forgot what controls were

So I now lost the "magic" of the game, of an rpg :(
I won't restart the game because I hate to do the same thing twice and I won't even try to force me playing other 30h without knowing what's going on... the only thing I can do is now playing the second Witcher and wait for the third to come out.

Does this ever happend to you?
I feel so angry with myself because I lost the opportunity to complete what I thought was an awesome game :/

Reading all this could make one think gaming is the hardest kind of work mankind ever encountered.

I have a 72 day character (2nd try) in Don't Starve that i haven't touched in months(6-7), and i'm afraid if i start playing, i'm going to screw it up :/

yeah, this is the reason I don't play long games any more, I don't know if I'll have time to finish them and I know that if I leave them unfinished I'll never go back.

This happens to me all the time. I get busy with something in my real life, take a long break from the game, then come back only to realise I have no idea what's going on.

It's happened to me in The Witcher, The Witcher 2, and Skyrim (still haven't finished any of them) :P

I went through two episodes of The Walking Dead and then I had a break for a few months. After that it was hard to start 3rd episode, but I managed to do that. The "best " thing is that after beating the 4th episode I had another break. Few months later i want to finish the game and it seems that my savefile is damaged and all my progress is lost... I don't think I'll be able to start from the beggining :-/

I sometimes find myself in a similar situation.
What I do is;

  • Keep my old save somewhere safe
  • Start a new game
  • If I find myself remembering what to do and annoyed at doing it again, I go back to my old save
  • If not then carry on with the new one

This happens to me on mmo, where everything changed and you need to relearn the stuff again, especially if you have allot of alts with different class.
