Yep, I only enter Wishlist items. I come on the site, click Wishlist filter, enter any there, and then leave pretty much.

And it is one of my pet peeves when people enter games to 'grow their collection' for games they are not interested in, lowering the chances of someone who actually wants the game.

But, what you gonna do.

I like how this is a thread that should actually have a poll. But doesn't. Lol. But regardless, I do almost always join games that I would actually play. Sometimes I mess up and think I know what the game is, and mess up. Like one of my recently won games is an RTS and it's not a RTS i'm interested in. So unfortunately it's probably going to go unplayed. But overall I hide the giveaways i'll never join or don't want to play if I won it. So pretty much everything I join I will play at some point should I win.

Well, i like to actually read individual elaborated opinions, that's why i didn't create a poll.

I thought that, but I don't see the variety of responses for a thread like this being kind of pointless in that respect. They'll be rather samey and straight to the point, I do not see much room for deviation, unless you want the people who would say "no" to explain themselves. But they'll probably get flack for that kind of behavior and I don't see why they would take off their anonymity to be truthful and pointlessly offer themselves to criticism from the community. That's why I thought a poll is much more intelligible as it's a very easy question and people who wish to add their extra will post in these comments below. Also I am aware now how the start of my comment can come off as rude. It was more of a joke as to how people put unnecessary polls in their posts, but one where it'd make sense. Doesn't have it.

Yeah I've probably spent hours filtering games on steamgifts so I only enter those for games I'm interested in, I suppose that ironically means I've lost time I could have spent playing whoops... I haven't played every game that I've won but they're all games that I've prioritised and will play when I can!

I just use the wishlist thingie.
Currently i am kinda lazy to update my wishlist, however.

That was an option but while it was painful at the start it now means I've got newer games showing up that I wouldn't have entered or found if they were buried! If you do update your wishlist regularly than that's just as effective :)

I kind of hate filtering, it's like no matter how many games you hide. More shovelware titles will release and you'll have to spend a bunch of time filtering those too to have a quality and immediate browsing experience.

Mostly, although I will pick up bundle games I don't mean to or know that I probably won't play occasionally in 2hu ga's and some of Keo's 100 million ga's.

Yes, I only enter GAs for game that I actually wanna play.
Some I would buy within few months anyway, some others I wouldn't buy, but still look interesting enough to be at least tried for free.
And while it might take me a while to play my wins, I do play them. :)
The last 2 months were crazy lucky for me, so it will take me a little more than usual to catch up. :D

Why would you enter giveaways of games you don't want to play? Just to have more?

What's the point in owning a game you don't intend to play..?

There are a some users here on SG that seem to be in to that. Library +1 and/or card farming I guess. Some users have hundreds of wins, and 2-10 hours in every won game that has cards, but no achievements, and no hours in games that don't have cards = they win games here, farm them for cards for an extra €0.20 in their Steam wallet, but never play the wins "for real".

I think that's sad, a game that someone could have had a lot of fun with goes to someone who doesn't appreciate the game itself, only the library +1 "status", or the small money contribution selling the cards farmed from the game can get.

Still, it's up to each person who wins a game what they want to do with it, but if I could choose, I would always choose to send the game to someone who would play and enjoy it. Most of the time I don't mind if it takes a while (almost everyone here has a backlog).

Yep! I mainly only enter for games on my wishlist, now and then I'll have a look through the main page or a train and join giveaways for games that look interesting but that I hadn't known about previously.

I have 4,235 hidden games (although a chunk of those are games I already own since initially I didn't know you could change a setting to hide games you have-- why that isn't the default is beyond me). In my "early days" on SG I was a bit more indiscriminate and won a few games that I wish I hadn't. But now I ask myself the simple question: will I feel guilty if I win this game? That keeps me out of a lot of GAs (AAA or otherwise popular) that I won't have time to play.

I also recently began to prioritize my limited gaming time for games I've won on SG. In the past few weeks, I have finished or am in the process of playing 7 games I won on SG. =)

I actually want to play the games that I join the giveaways of, just playing too slowly. XD
If a GA write a description that asking for review in a limited period, I will consider if it possible to me to do that before enter.
I am writing a review that I promised for a gift right now; but, however, I got it about half year before. (The gifter did not give me a deadline. I think I can finished it before next sale of that game) XD

I used to enter for lots of different games, ones that sounded interesting, ones I might like but wouldn't buy for myself in case I didn't like it, ones with good word of mouth, etc.
But for the past year or so, I only enter for wishlisted games or ones I know I will play soon as long as they are tbs or rpg. It's hard to find time for gaming as is so no sense to win so many games to idle for cards or take the chance away from someone who legitimately would love to win the game. And as for word of mouth, 95% of the games get good comments within the giveaway itself so I read the reviews and then decide to enter or not.

I think most of the people here don't intend to ruin others chances. I would rephrase slightly by saying most of the people here think inwardly first before the community at large and that makes their decision for them to enter our not. There's a lot of good apples here though, some bad apples but most of the community falls somewhere in the middle.

Regarding your group, making it public (even initially) ensures it will have some of those people you're speaking out about.
