Anyone buying this game is helping soothe the pain that this assblasted shit is feeling right now.

Please let him stay in pain. I want his bum to burn forever.

Look at all the people who know about him and his game, despite never having played it. Looks to me like his publicity stunts have worked!

If you think about how he acted in Indie Game: The Movie, he wasn't the most professional, but you have to consider the fact that the past couple years of his life were on the line and in the hands of his former coworker. I'm surprised he was able to do as much as he did considering the stress he would have been under. Factor in a few sleepless nights and you have the recipe for someone losing their mind which it seemed like he was pretty close to.

So obviously he wants more money. Like that's any sort of news.

Where did that quote come from, in any case? Because I remember him being horribly misquoted at least once, possibly for the comments about the japanese games industry.

GLORIOUS CONSOLE GAMING MASTER RACE is just as stupid as GLORIOUS PC GAMING MASTER RACE

I mean, I get that he's treating it like a piece of art, and medium is an important piece of that art... but when he says that the game is intended to be played on a couch with a controller on a Saturday morning, does it really matter if the machine running the game is an XBOX or a PC running Steam Big Picture? After a certain point in digital art, medium can't be different.

Gotta love the internet.

People pay for AAA games with shitty DRM, shittier customer support, and don't get me started on various bugs and other crap like that, not to mention the raping of the gaming industry (a big subject i'm not gonna touch here).

But then comes an indy developer who has the audacity to say that he is porting the game because "profit", and here comes the hail of shit from the internet. The same people that would gladly give EA, Blizzard or any other gargantuan company 50+ euros for a DRM infested game filled with DLC, now cry about an indy developer who would gasp love to earn more money. How dares he?
Where did he find the balls to do something he said he would not do, because, we all know that noone EVER changes their views, right?

Spare me the bullshit, don't buy Fez if you don't like the game, but try not to be fucking crusader about it, this subject is getting way too much attention as it is. But refusing to buy a game because you do not agree with something the developer has said and done, while buying games from huge companies makes you... well, try to guess the word. ;)

Cut the dude some slack, don't tell me you wouldn't love to make more money, unless you're filthy rich you're lying.

I dont think you realize the things he has said. And these same people who are against what he has said are most definately against the practices on AAA games.

Your crusade of trying to save indie developers or whatever is only making you create a false image of other people. I wont be buying this shit because of the bile phil fish spews, and I wont be buying EA games for the amount of awful business practices they have.

And you really think that people who won't buy his game also don't boycott EA, Activision, and other publishers with shitty practices? I'm definitely avoiding Fez and I also avoid EA and Activision games as well. I don't care if Fez is the absolute best game ever, I'm not going to support a pathetic piece of humanity like Phil Fish.

Yes, i do, people on the internet have proven it many times.
I'm not talking about you, keep that in mind. I've noticed many people doing stupid shit like boycotting Diablo 3 by buying Black Ops 2/Battlefield 3 or whatever.
Those who were insulted by my ramblings must have recognized themselves somewhere in my text.

@Mezza: Could you please give me some quotes, i really want to know what was so bad that makes people suddenly hate him. Thanks!

You're looking at one. He flatout said that Fez was a console game, "end of story" and went on to trash PC as a gaming platform, saying "PCs are for spreadsheets."

Furthermore his ego is through the fucking roof, following his comments on japanese gaming (despite indie japanese gaming single handedly reinvigorating the indie scene), his self importance and insultingly rude things he said post-IGF, and his stupid sense of desperation that he tried to drum up support for when it came to Indie Game: The Movie.

The point is this: I am very fond of indie gaming, especially for the interaction with the audience. Look at Konjak, or Vlambeer, or Cactus. They listen to their fans, they are receptive, they know who they are and have a passion for what they do. They do not do it to feed an ego. They do not do it for attention. Fez may be great, but in no way does it remotely justify the shit he said. Is it that bad? On a surface level, no. But I have no intention of supporting such behavior, which takes the idea of artist expression and turns it into downright pretentiousness. This is why I do not go watch Tarantino movies in the theater. This is why I do not buy Kanye West albums. And this is why I wont buy Fez.

If you have a message to send, do it through your art. If you think you have the right to act juvenile just because you have the freedom to do so because you do not have a publisher hanging around your neck, then you have another thing coming.

Thanks Mezza, this is exactly the kind of answer i was looking for.
I really don't mind people bashing PC or any console, i like it all, somebody bashing it won't change my oppinion. That's why i really don't mind him bashing the PC as a gaming platform.

I haven't seen the Indie game: The Movie, should i give it a go?
Thanks!

I think that it is an informative watch if not a bit cloying with it's message. I wish it focused more on the passion indie devs put into their products due to creative freedom, and less about how hard it is to be independent and whatnot. It's more of an eye into the mind of certain big devs, and less about the creative process which is what I wanted from it. Still, as a piece showing how much artists struggle to come with their success it is admirable.

Thank you, i was imagining it being about the creative process of the indy developers, but ok, i will live without it.

Yes, my pc is able to produce some decent spreadsheets (dixit my newly installed titan) but I'll have this game the day it will be included in a bundle, and that day will be the only time I'll max out the charity donation (collateral damage).

The difference between us, being the fact I was a potential buyer and I can still choose to cut some slack or not, and I don't (like most people from what I read so its as a lesson to remember, if you expect to sell something, be nice to your customers if your product isn't proven to be the absolute "best of all people can't do without").

I clicked the link, hoping it was for the FEZ greenlight page so I could downvote it on principal.

For those who suggest getting this on a bundle and giving everything to charity, don't forget you'll be cutting out the other devs that have contributed to the bundle. Hardly seems fair unless it is indie Royale doing The Judas Bundle.

The spreadsheet generator was probably a pretty big asset in creating that game. I'm guessing he didn't develop it on his console.

Yep, some indie game dev's are a bit odd. The dev of Braid is maybe savant of some sorts... Not to insult him or anyone. Phil Fish got into "big" troubles with his co-dev. A clash of egos, I bet. I guess he might have said and thought many many things I can't relate to. But I might buy FEZ, maybe on a little discount, because I own it already on my XBOX. Haven't gotten the chance to play it though. Maybe I'll play FEZ on my laptop on my way to work on train.
