I bought a cd-key from them and they refuse to give it to me or give me my money back. They just say: Your order has been flagged for anti-fraud check measures. My order is however 100% legit. Is there anything i can do or did i just pay them 30 euro for free? This should be illegal, i mean can they just steal money from u just like that?

Why did you even go there? why not use steam instead -_-

Is that serious question? I would guess that the 30€ game he wanted to buy was a lot more expensive on steam. So maybe that's why?

Well, now he know why was so less expensive.

If you used paypal or some other service, you do a chargeback. If you paid with a card directly (against better judgement), contact your bank/card vendor and have them cancel and/or return the payment. Then stay away from these unauthorized game-keys-from-stolen-boxes resellers.

^this, just do a charge back and you get your money back, for free

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

And filing a chargeback means that they lose money too since the credit card company penalizes them.

If it was just a key, that paypal thing won't work most of the time. You'll get something like this after opening a dispute:
"We are denying your buyer’s claim because the item you sold was virtual, digital, or intangible, which is not covered under PayPal Purchase Protection. We only cover claims involving physical items that can be shipped and tracked."

They will probably demand your identity papers with address. Just open a complaint in resolution center in paypal or request a charge back with your bank.

You can't get it on cd like on amazon ? Or maybe check a local game store? Also is the game on steam I can't find it there

Prey is removed from Steam Store but all retail copies can be optionally redeemed here. I bought my physical copy over a year ago for ~$1,6 in some local store and activated it without any issues.

For "regular" stores "anti-fraud check measures" usually means that they'll call you asking for your order's details, to make sure that you are the owner of the card used to pay.

I don't know that site personally, so I'll still advise to be careful about what you are asked for. Don't give personal passwords and/or codes away.

Always buy with Paypal. You have two layers of protections.

Anti-fraud check measures are there to ensure it's you who are actually trying to get it. Did you actually contact them and what they ask for?

send an email to their support

also google for "consumer protection" for the region of that store and send them an email with you reclamation if support doesn't help you properly with your issue

This.
I think it's fun how everyone says the site name is bad and key sites are bad, but there is nothing wrong with the site... The site is protecting the buyer. It's not the shop's fault that the buyer doesn't follow required steps to get past the protection.

Indeed, The site is only protecting the buyer, i have came up against this before and its normal procedure for a lot of online stores based in Europe, LOL at some of the stupid comments above.

i believe that legally speak they shouldn't take the money until after the checks because otherwise they are not completing their contract of sale. (feel free to correct me if i am wrong)

I bought Black Ops 2 from steam for ~25€... not @ release but who cares

He's most likely talking about a pre-order or new game. Black Ops 2 was much more than 25€ for a key on release day.
