Tiny problem with a sync

No but seriously, sync has some errors right now. I've had games not showing up after sync-ing so I'd still see them in the giveaway lists ( no, please, no more Dota2/The Ship )

Other times it tells me to set my profile to public so it can sync...and it's on public as usual.

Yes if you play a game during a free weekend its apparently common that it'll show up in your account for a little while even if you sync with steamgifts. I don't know why, it's just a thing and it probably isn't going to change soon.

If you really liked it, why not consider buying it next sale? According to this site it has been on sale before at its cheapest for 66% off, or $3.39. That's a pretty good price, and it'll probably be on sale during the Christmas sale for 50%-66%.
