He was extremely athletic and could even perform backflips. One day, he got rear-ended and got a permanent neck brace, so he just had to start over his life.

Also: I think your story has just convinced reminded me that I need to get an indoor exercise "bike" instead of jogging / riding a bike outside... (tbh i've always had a fear of this kind of thing. read an article a few years ago about a programmer that had a similar but much more fatal experience... and the stephen king jogging incident... yeah, i don't think i will be burning any calories near cars. and yes, i know i am paranoid.)

Damn, that's scary :( I just don't get what happens in brains of those irresponsible creatures that choose to drive under influence. "It'll be fine, it can't happen to me"? I hope your recovery will be speedy.
As for me, weirdly enough, this year has been relatively fine so far. No one has died, no serious illnesses in the family, my nephew and niece are both beautiful, healthy and develop at a frightening speed (my nephew even spoke his first word a couple of days ago, he called a crescent moon "banana")). More than that, I went back to school at 35, and that's pretty awesome, I'm finally doing something with my life.

I used to be surprised by people having so many bad experiences this year until I started having them too. Mostly due to my bad decision making, but corona played its part too. Also discovered back pain this year, so from 1st hand experience, I wish you all the best.

Well, thats an injury thatll take a year or two to heal... (dad had a similar bicycle accident, but ice on the streets was to blame)

How's the 2020 going for you so far?
I had a pretty decent year except for the first week of September where I got hit by a drunk driver ( I was on a bicycle, he was behind a wheel). I got one spinal ring crushed on a spot, pelvic bone was smashed as well and had a ton of internal bleeding. That all happened on September 12 (dude had 1.7 of promiles of alcohol in his blood btw). Good news is that I can feel my legs and I'll be able yo walk eventually. But it's a long road til I get there.
On a plus side, once I be able to sit straight, I'll have a huge backlog of AAA games to play and enjoy. Cheers!
