I've got 26 hours in this game. TWENTY. SIX.

I finally...FINALLY get to The Depths II - the furthest I've ever gotten.

I've got Cain with some Laser Tears, like, 7 heath points, and then what happens? I died. I died, and I got really mad.

Anyone else love this game but hate it?

EDIT: I BEAT MOM YES

It isn't fun if you don't rage! No, but seriously, it takes a lot of time, I can't beat satan...I just can't.

Wait until you play it's superior $5 counterpart Dungeons of Dredmor. The rage you feel when you get further than you ever did before and die because you tried to teleport away from something and it places you right next to it ;_; or or, when you open a monster zoo right after getting to the new level or or...

For me, Isaac is superior to Dredmor. Not really sure why, I just found myself not able to get into the game as much.

Isaac is based on skills and quick fingers. Dredmor is based on strategy. Both are excellent games, which are completely different pieces.

To have that heart item at the end is a bad idea. Should have some combat item.

I don't know why people find this game so hard. Most of my deaths have been because my PC is so damn old and the game gets a little laggy. If you learn to manage your resources (coins, bombs, and especially arcades) you can get very far and usually with a lot of powerups. I only play with Cain, he makes your life much easier with the only good pills buff and supposedly better arcade odds (I think?).

It's not too bad, up until The Depths II.

Yep, makes it a 50/50 chance in the arcade or something close to that.

That's the farthest I've made it so far, by pure luck both times. Hell of a fun game though.

I heard it was a RL and was disappointed. It seems anything with lose everything from death is considered a Rogue-like these days.

It's not a roguelike. It's a good Flash-based Zelda clone. And I like it. I should get more hours, though- 6 and I've already beaten it.

Are you kidding?

It's called roguelike not just because of permadeath but all the random generation of content as well. The only thing that's missing - turn-based combat.

I find the game quite easy, if you are knowledgeable about the game and are good at managing your resources it's fine. Can't wait for the expansion myself, hope it ain't that much price wise.

On another note, the womb is annoying.

I like to think I'm pretty knowledgeable... I mean, (now) 29 hours into the game, I've pretty much got it figured out. And I do indeed manage my resources. That's not the problem. It's the later-in-the-game enemies that murder me.

Over 150 hrs and I absolutely love the game but hate the no damage achievements. I have everything else, but I consider them not doable without the invincible-bug that existed earlier. Basement ist doable (got it), perhaps caves with amazing luck (never have that), anything else isn't and that drives me crazy.

You're upset because you had a good game and died? Try having a good game and then the game freezes :P

Oh yeah, I know this. Played with Cain, got really cool stuff, door to the Sheol opened (before 10th mom kill, it's was a random), jumped to the Sheol, and right before the last boss... FREEZE! Damn, didn't play TBoI for about 2 days after this.

18 hours. Beat Mom twice, on my second time through [after unlocking the rest of the levels] I died in the womb. Haha

Aw, keep, keep trying. I had so many deaths before I finally made it and defeated Mom. Part of my bad luck was never running into any arcades--I just unlocked the Gamekid (for entering into arcades ten times) on an Isaac run, which was my second time defeating Mom's Heart. But I was nearly twenty hours into the game, with I don't know how many deaths. However, I ran into four or five arcades on that run alone. Sometimes the random number generator just decides to HATE you.

I use a gamepad, it's definitely better for me than my laptop keyboard for controls. And, if you have enough bombs, you can always bomb your way out of a dead end room if it's kicking your butt.

Come one, that meatbag isn't so hard. I got her on my first time there. If you can make it to mother you should be able to defeat her. Don't let her scare you.

I just play this game on my very old laptop. The lag in it is like 2 times slower than how it really should run, so the game gets 5 times easier cause you can see everything coming your way.

Well, when there's many enemies around, my game run slower too, so maybe it was easier for me. But I tried to play it on the new computer (with good processor. It was muuuuuch faster) and still almost killed the last boss (I mean THE LAST boss, from the halloween update. Don't rly think it's a spoiler, but I better don't say it). But died because of explosion. Anyway, I almost completed the game without cool artifacts on the full speed, so I don't think it's much easier with slower speed.
