Delete the name and profile, mate.

It would suck to be scammed AND suspended on SG for calling out.

Many people will tell you, but calling out means bad things for you in this site. So you need to edit that post to not have the name or any sort of profile link of the user there.
Yes, I know, this makes the whole thread pointless, but these are the rules.

tl;dr: check who you send money to. Would you give 20 euros to some random stranger who comes knocking on your door and promises to give you something for it in exchange later? Check their steamrep page, check their steamgifts page (and check that it's indeed theirs).

Well, everytime you are trading outside of the Steam trade window with a complete stranger, you are directly asking to be scammed. It sucks big time, but you probably shouldn't trust people on the internet so easily ;)

yeah will do in the future thanks for your words this won´t happen again

i do trades outside steam not everyone is out to scam you but you have to be cautious and use some common sense,To say your asking to get scammed just because it not within steam is not true though the likely hood of it increases a lot,You can still get scammed within steam, due to charge backs.

Anyhow the short of it is never trade anything your not willing to risk and treat every trade as a risk.Join Traders Guild Group
https://steamcommunity.com/groups/TradersGuild
You can find help and tips there and there is a chat room to meet people and ask around if your unsure, you can also try find a trusted middle man and so on.

Trading for codes from video cards though i will say is high risk do not do it unless you really trust or know the person.

Anyhow trading is no worse on the internet then is using craigslist IRL both are just as risking if you just go in blind.

I'd like to know the origin of that rule, tbh. If someone's a scammer, he's a scammer. I mean, if there's evidence. Everybody SHOULD be warned, IMHO.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Want to know origin of that rule?

"Scotia is a scammer, stole $9001 from me. If someone needs screenshot, give me 5 minutes, so I can ask friend to chance nick and avatar and I'll provide one."

This is fake accusation. But when someone writes it, have fun defending yourself from it :(

i wasn´t even talking about Scotia i was talking About a certain user wich is Like a "DarkCloud" on steam rep

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No, no, no, I'm not saying Scotia is a scammer, hopefully nobody will see this that way.

I was just showing Scotia why this rule is implemented. While I understand people wanting to warn about scammers, unfortunately it's way too easy to make convincing fake-accusation. And there's really not much chance to prove you're innocent.

And yeah, delete any kind of links to that scammer. Even if that's not how he's called. Like one of the first comments said - don't get SG suspension over that scam.

yeah i already deleted the links and sent a ticket to support with all the proof needed and also a report here on steam gifts i would like to get my money back or the gift but even if that won´t happen at least i want to make the community safe so im praying for a ban

Yeah, it gets even worse when you consider that a lot of scammers actually change their account names to match other people's profiles, and then use those stranger's profiles to seem like they have good trading rep. After the scam has taken place, the innocent stranger is then accused of scamming, and the actual scammer just changes their name back.

It sucks :s

It can be a Friends-Only account. If he sends an invite to you, you could see his profile, but if you log out from Steam, it will tell you, that it's private

nah its public however when i spam his profile and game reviews with the steamrep page saying he is banned by fraud he instatly puts it to private what a lowlife

don´t worry i learned my lesson the hard way all i can expect is him to be punished by steam directly because this is not the first time he has scammed his steamrep page says he is banned i just hope the steam staff can ban his account or revoke the gift or at least trade\gift ban him permanently

my condolonces man i am pissed but it was 20 € you must be even worse, well he just got a permanent suspension from the steam gifts community i just hope he gets a permanent trade ban or a account ban cause he scamed me and he has 600+ plus iventory items and 100+ games if he geets a trade ban he cant do anything more with them or try to run away to other account

Yeah. It's the way it goes. $40 (bought for less than full price from GMG before release) is a harsh lesson but its still a lesson. He offered Paypal and I was naive enough to go first. He claimed it didn't work bc of region. I tried it a few days later and it was redeemed. Called him out on it and he blocked me. Only then was I actually able to find him on here. I got desperate and dumb.

Would like to point out that even if they had used PayPal, they could just reverse that payment and if by some miracle PayPal would even care enough to ask, any kind of nonsensical reply would let them get their money back.

This is true. The smart thing to do would have been to just pass for someone less shady. Which is absolutely the course I'll take should I find myself in such a situation again

yeah he used that excuse and i got convinced that profile rep mattered if i ahd checked his steamrep page i would have known what kind of "person" he his he is banned permanently from steamgifts and also in steamrep i just hope steam support checks my ticket and bans him or trade bans him and all his accounts

That sucks, OP.
While it seems like an obvious scam to folks here, that's not exactly any consolation to you after your trust got you ripped off, heh. I know this sucks pretty hardcore, but at least the sting is over. You lost 20€ but you gained some vital caution that will likely prevent you getting scammed in future. I guess to look on the bright side, at least you didn't get scammed for 50€+ in a larger trade attempt.

It's almost like a weird initiation ritual. You're not a 'real' trader until you get ripped off once, haha. xP
Shame you even did it through email, otherwise you could have used the report ticket system.

he also did that to other people saying that they scammed him because they canceled their paypal payment after he scamed them like WTF he is just a lowlife kid and report him sent the prints to steam support with 101% proof like i did we dont get our stuff back but we can warn steam and with enough evidence we can make his accounts cause he told me and i checked he has more than one account trade banned or if not banned permanent
