Popular doesn't mean it's a good game though. There's plenty of things that are popular and are complete garbage. FF is actually one of the worst JPPG franchises now and has been ever since most of the talent on the team left to make their own company.
And honestly, many fans think the series went downhill since 7 with 9 being the exception to the rule. 7 was the start of FF games being more about graphics than about what actually makes a game fun.

I don't think 9 was bad at all, it's actually my favorite from the Playstation Final Fantasy games, but there were people who didn't like the aesthetic choices or the shift back to a more traditional setting that the series took.

Prob just a LoL player, they are used to very simple and straight forward RTS game so Dota 2 is like extremely confusing.
Ye the afkers and feeders are true, but I think that from every game I made like 2/3 didn't had smurfs that's like 10% or something. And only a retard would have a smurf on Dota2 since there is no lvl cap

I play LoL, well, used to quite a lot, not so much these days. And I can tell you that the afk-ers and feeders are a universal problem. You can't differentiate MOBA games by this. LoL has one revolutionary feature which it introduced first into the MOBA genre and that is the addition of brushes. They really make the game much more complex than you could ever imagine, so I'm guessing you didn't really try it and you speak out of ignorance. Also, LOL is as difficult as DotA because the most powerful skills in the game are skill-shots just like in the case of other MOBA games. Unless you play Malzahar who's the ponciest ponce champion ever and has a triple combo of targeted abilities that can turn your opponent's health bar into maccaroni. But that's a different story.

Eh, 'Dash Galaxy' and 'Ikari Warriors II' have to be right up there too, for NES games. I'm not sure they're the worst games I've played, but yeah, they weren't exactly good even by NES standards.
Also the NES 'Home Alone I' (which happens to one of BethesdaSoft's earliest games years before they gave us the Elder Scrolls games, for the record) may come to mind. It's playable, but tedious and loses its replay value after you've successfully beaten it...

I remember some horrible FPS games from my youth. One was called Hellforces and was horrendous. Also played a laughably bad one, the equivalent of movies like Batman & Robin or Twilight(so bad they're actually enjoyable) in the cinema world. It was Russian(go figure) and it was called You Are Empty. Some veterans might also remember Will Rock, a very pitiful clone of Painkiller, but it's not nearly as bad as the ones I've listed above. Painkiller has spawned some other crappy clones like Dreamkiller or Necro Vision.
Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands is probably the worst action-adventure ever, but more because of the technical part. It has bugs that make it literally unplayable. X-Blades and Prince of Persia 2008 are extremely crappy games themselves, but at least they fucking function.
Although many might disagree with me, Cryostasis is a horrendous game too and totally deserving of the title worst survival horror ever. Yes, worse than Afterfall Insanity.
Among the RTS games there is something that has marked my childhood, because, given it's name, it should have been awesome and it's just...no comment. Talking about the awful Desert Rats vs Africa Corps... Worthy dishonorable mention: Armies of Exigo.
In the realm of sand-box action games there's Spider-Man 3... WOW, what a piece of crap!!! How do you manage to make fucking Spider-Man(most awesome super-hero EVER) look like total shit? That's almost an accomplishment in itself. I'm well aware that Ride to Hell Retribution is probably worse, but I never played it(thank God).
When it comes to arcade racing games, the Need for Speed series is always the king in here, whether good or bad. Worst of the worst? Hands down NFS Pro Street.
Stealth action? Played almost entirely good or great games in this category, to tell you the truth, but I do have one. It's Deus Ex Invisible War. Because it claims to be a stealth game and it ISN'T. Death to Spies is pretty bad too, but not exactly horrendous.
Am I forgetting something? Oh yeah, third person shooters. I'll get crucified by this, but it's Gears of War. Because it's basically the third person equivalent of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and I hate spunkgargleweewee. It's really a shame that such a game exists along side masterpieces of the genre like Max Payne 2 or Spec Ops The Line. I had more fun with Infernal than with this piece of shit.
Worst platformer ever: The Wizard of Oz on the NES
I'd love to say nothing bad ever came out of the RPG genre, but I'd be lying. Worst I've played is Game of Thrones. That game is an embarrassment to all RPG games because it bears the title of of one of the best fantasy franchises ever created. It's also an embarrassment to the Song of Fire and Ice book series, the show, GRMM and everyone having to do with the phenomenon that is GoT. Sure, the story is good, above average even, and some people say in RPGs that's what matters the most. But is it worth going through the worst game-play in RPG history? Not a chance!!! While we're on the subject, I'll also talk about MMORPGs. Played a whole lot more pieces of shit in this department, but the very worst is a REALLY HORRIBLE one which is one of the biggest hits in my home country, Romania, along with League of Legends. It's called Metin 2 and it's so bad it literally made me want to smash my monitor after 10 minutes of playing it. I restrained myself and just uninstalled it. But it's THAT bad.
And finally action-RPG. no contest here: E.Y.E Divine Cybermancy.
Can't talk about puzzle games, adventure games or sport simulator games(or simulators in general). Haven't yet played a puzzle game that didn't immediately intrigue me, and with the other 3 my experience is extremely limited. The're just not my kind of games.

Man, I really liked E.Y.E. I thought it had a lot of cool concepts especially if you liked cyberpunk. Sure the controls were hard to get used to at first but outside of that there really aren't many issues. The next hardest thing to get used to would probably be the crazy plot but it makes sense once you do all the endings. Its a pretty philosophical game actually.
