I know similar questions have been asked (not recently as far as I can tell though). I'm just curious about what everyone thinks about the progress being made on each of these titles. How are they coming along? I want to try something from this genre with a friend and I'm just trying to find the best investment in terms which game will end up being the nicest finished product. I'd really appreciate some insightful answers on this subject. Much love, SG.

Nether > 7 days to die > day Z > rust

Nether? Are you serious? I mean if you like it fine but I doubt most would even consider that train wreck becoming the best, has as much a chance as War Z becoming the best if you ask me...

Yes i am serious . Because it has everything surviving / crafting / big area / group events / group sorta quests . And more coming
Its not like Dayz ( standalone game ) where nothing works .
Rust that has almost nothing to do atm and both these games gonna get a whole rework ( new engine etc) for a reason . So i dont believe in those 2 games anymore
7 days to die is good atm bugs here and there but okay . Its good but i cant expect it to go MUCH further then that but we have to see .

7 Days to Die, especially once the random world generation, new zombie animations, and single player story are implemented.

did not know it was going to have a single player story that is cool and yeah been waiting for the random world generation

Rust is the only one that really interested me. Zombies are a pretty big turnoff IMO.

You can disable zombie spawning in 7 days to die. We created a pvp/pve server without zombies. I agree too many zombie stuff out there enough with zombies already.

You can hunt animals for food. Cook food. Build a house. Crafting. Farming. Mining.

I can understand why zombies would be an attractive thing to put in games, since people need a driving force to struggle against, but zombies got old a long time ago. I think a pure survival game would be interesting, ala Survivorman. Get dropped in a randomly generated environment/climate in a random situation and scraps and struggle to stay alive.

Alternately, it could also be a Primitive Man simulator. Think of it as a first-person Stone Age Civ game, where you have to scrape together enough to exist, grow your tribe, develop primitive technology, produce offspring and step into their shoes (ala Crusader Kings).

Yeah sounds cool. They're gonna add new features like that to 7 days to die.

From store page things to will be added in future:

Random World Generation - Roll the dice and dive back into the game with friends in a randomized worlds.

Environmental Temperature - Find shelter or build a campfire. Cold nights or long days in the desert will make a difference.

Weather Effects - The weather will change, and it may influence your survival.

Yeah, that's stuff I could totally get into. Not so much the multiplayer, unless cannibalism is an option.

Hahaha unfortunately no. Great idea we should suggest that to the developers.

They could even implement Kuru as a penalty for being cannibals, complete with shaking.

Really wanted 7 Days, but it didn't go low enough during the sale for my poor self :( And now, sometime in the near future at least, I'll apparently have a desktop capable of smoothly running it! :O

Of those, I'd say 7 Days to Die has the most promise, but I'm skeptical of all of the survival/horror Early Access games. They all feel like they'll die off before completion as the Devs lose interest, take the money and move on to something else. Of that type of game, I think Project Zomboid could be the most interesting, but there's very few Early Access games I'd say are worth investing in until they're at least close to being finished.

Kerbal Space Program is already a blast, and I could see Prison Architect being great when its finished, but everything else is very much Caveat Emptor.

I have a few questions about 7 Days to Die.

1) is it multiplayer, like RUST and DayZ ?

2) Why is the game called 7 days to die? this might sound stupid, but does the game end in 7 days (judging from the name?) or is there some massive horde that attacks you at the end of the 7th day?

Yes it's multiplayer but you can create your own game and play yourself. Also missions and npc characters will be added in future.

No you can survive as long as you can. It's coming from game's storyline.

I personally haven't played DayZ, but from what I've heard, it's really only good if you have friends to join you, and even then it's nothing but people killing on sight.

Rust is very interesting, but can be INCREDIBLY infuriating to begin. It's tough to learn everything, and even once you do, you'll be raided, and killed on sight at hundreds of times.

7 Days to Die is very promising, it's the only game where you can join an empty server and have fun, because there's actual PvE. I've only played with a friend so far, and it's actually very fun.

I think 7 Days to Die will turn out the best, because there's so many things that could be done, between pvp and pve, though if DayZ improves upon the mod, they could easily be top. With Rust's difficult learning curve I can't honestly see it being the best survival type game.

There's my 2 cents! xD

I'd Say Rust, but i cannot really judge the other games as i dont have DayZ Standalone or 7 Days to die, Although Rust is getting a bit boring now but once Garry gets everything sorted with it, it will be a mint game.

I dont get it why so many people pay for Early access trash survival games this is the most stupid thing in gaming industry developers easily abandon the game and you found yourself wasting 30$ for a buggy unfinished game FACT

Yeah early alpha is kinda stupid but I spent more time and had more fun on rust than any complete game at 60$.
So,to me,it's a well worth 20$

Nah, it just mean you enjoy trash-style. Anyway, even if you would be right, this just doesn't mean that you should promote a bad game

You can definitely enjoy a bad game. They're not mutually exclusive.
I love Two Worlds and Ride To Hell, and they're pretty bad games, but in very charming ways.

DayZ standalone is pretty bad right now, it is full of bugs that make it complete shit to play.
For the time being I recommend playing ARMA 2 mods of Dayz [such as : Epoch, Overwatch, Overpoch...].

You should also check out: The Dead Linger[multi player + single], Dead State, State of Decay [if you want good single player zombie survival games too]

NONE OF THEM!
Starting with the FACT that early access sucks, a good game is good even if it's an alpha, and none of them are good. THE ONLY GAME that can be a good survival and it's in early access is The Forest (maybe also the stomping land but I didn't try it yet).
Stop purchasing this trash and say that they will become good games. The forest is in an earlier stage and it's still better.
Oh and don't forget that, anyway, they'll never be as good as don't starve.

It's as repetitive as any of these other survival games actually, only difference is its done and polished, and the devs aren't money hungry.

Something about that genre just doesn't seem to encourage people to finish their games. Maybe its just scope creep, or whatever they call it when ambitions keep outpacing progress, and eventually devs just lose sight of the end and give up.

The Forest will be one of the best games, i think. In its current state its playable and fun but after some days playing we want to see more. Only if they would add Co-op it would be a great game!
