So I am facing a personal dilemma for the new year. I am a completionist when it comes to achievements, only skipping multi player as it holds little interest to me. The 2 titles I am currently playing to 100% completion will reach me the 100 perfect games milestone on my profile but I am facing an ever increasing backlog. Should I carry on as I am or discontinue my efforts? I do enjoy most of the achievements as they cause me to play the games differently to how I would normally though there are some horribly grindy ones I have completed.
Some bits to take into consideration. My backlog of incomplete titles is 1303 according to Darkadia. Around 2/3rds contain achievements. My installed games (all from my wishlist) amounts to 120. I am subscribed to the Humble Monthly and this is where I get the majority of my new games now. This sale I have bought myself 1 new title as I have plenty already to play (+ any I may win here). All thoughts welcome.
Oh yes and the gifts

Happy New Year all.

Should I continue my pursuit of 100% completions?

I personally don't understand the desire to try and get achievements and I always just ignore them so I voted "no". I play games that I enjoy for the sole purpose of enjoying the game, not to try and get achievements to compare myself to other people. I like to play games that I can get lost in and forget about the real world. Having to get achievements makes the game feel more like a job or a task that has to be done instead of just playing the game to enjoy it.

I guess if you get enjoyment out of getting the achievements, then that is all that matters, do what makes you happy, but I personally do not.

I'd say don't do it, but I am no completionist. :P

I'm not the achievement hunter myself. I feel less fun playing the same part again even if there is different objectives. Last night I played first few levels of Hitman GO, I did complete all the tasks to get all 3 stamps thing but I got bored after like 1x games.

Happy new year
Sometimes I go for 100% but the achievement shouldn´t frustate me because then it isn´t worth it

My only suggestion would be to do what makes you happy. Does going for 100% give you pleasure, or is it a weight on your mind, some kind of compulsive behavior that makes you play a game you don't even enjoy?

Happy new year and thanks for the giveaways! :)

Personally I like to gather achievements but I don't try to get achievements where I am not having fun.

I's say ignore going for 100% but it's up to you.

Keep playing for fun. If getting 100 % is fun, why not? :-) Also, thanks a lot!

Happy new year! Personally, I also like to get all achievements if I can, but I'd say if it's not enjoyable then it would be best if you try and play other games. :)

Like most, who said they like to hunt achievements I do so to some extent.
There is fun in going for the last one or two achieves even after the game itself is played to death.
But many just aren't worth it - I won't be finishing Akumu mode in Evil Within after I experienced how that plays for instance.
It's all about the payoff.

What bothers me a bit is the forums being flooded by ppl demanding achievements, often saying they want easy ones. They cheat them anyway, so what's the point?

I think when achievements became a thing on Steam the devs implemented them often in an original way adding to the whole experience...
and then came the collectibles and numbers achieves :/

Sometimes I'm now at the point where I look for a game that doesn't have any so I don't get sidetracked by them.

I wouldnt go after the multiplayer achievements, like you I dont care much for MP so why waste time on it when you can start something else you'll enjoy much more.
