I guess the thing is that most people who disappointed in this deal don't think that Just Cause 3 is a "new car". I'm just happy i dodged this. And i agree with you that refunding is a bad practice, but in this case Square Enix totally deserve these refunds.

That's why i dodged this, you described Square Enix logic. The logic to justify adding 3 cheapest titles to JC3. Because they think JC3 is good enough, but most people expected at least 1 FF title or maybe The Turing Test or something similar - that would've make difference for these people.

Historical lowest price for JC3 was €11,22 or something alike on Humble store, the other games were bundled (they are sold for peanuts on marketplaces), so they don't really add value to this bundle.
It is not a bad deal, but coming by Square Enix (with no intermediaries) I'd expect something better. The same deal at the usual 6-7€ would have been great, it is just not good enough for €12.

first of all square-enix say in their site that if you unlock the keys you can't refund. poeple are not "forcing" refunds. you must chill out.
3 years now i bought so many things i can't count. this box was the first time i request a refund and it was because they give the option to refund.i explain them in my email my big disapointment. this box cost twice the money from other boxes and the quality was worst. we didn't expect another AAA game but old cheap bundle repeats is a big no for 12$. If there was a big wave of refunds in previous year this box is a tsunami and square-enix should realize the reason.

Just saying, that each and every of their packs included: straight-out old, but good games ; a 2-3 year old AAA game that was critically well-acclaimed and something "fresh" - FF 13 / 14 / Lightning Returns, LiS, Hitman - there were never more than one game that was commercially and critically also great in the pack. It was really obvious that this pack is for JC3, and there won't be anything interesting - what else they could put there? So many packs and bundles, and not a single FF 1-10. The never newer ones were already in the packs. Hitman, Tomb Raiders bundled, and The Turing Test was going for 20 10 bucks on recent sale, while they only bundled their Hitman-TR games when they were consistently on 5$ sales. They literally *barely* have any not-bundled game in their portfolio, and they guard the old FF games like father his daughter. People feeling disappointed after buying it didn't put any serious evaluation into what could be in the pack. It's still their right to feel cheated, but in such an expectable situation they are not victims of the system, just their own greed/stupidity.

Each and every of their previous bundles were weaker, for cheaper, and filled with old but good games, and usually promo material for newer ones (hitman, LIS) - and in terms of FF they gave the weaker new titles, not the known and loved older ones. Why people expect a change of heart from the company that put microtransactions into Deus Ex MD. WEEKS before release just because they can? They are not the gifting, nice company of the industry.

Indeed, what a bloody disaster this was. Basically all re-bundles largely from previous Humble Bundles (a few even in Tier 1). Plus Dungeon Siege III is the least favorably-received in the franchise. At least the EU bundle had Just Cause 3 (though admittedly not much after that). Not that I am at all surprised though. I knew this would end badly.
I'll say it again: Square Enix simply doesn't have enough games in their catalog to do more than perhaps 1 bundle a year without significant repeats, and since they seem somewhat hesitant to include Final Fantasy games then where does that leave the consumer? That's right, up shit's creek without a paddle.

In any case, I don't have any complaints with the european one. I got one of those mainly for JC3, but having Kane and Lynch 2 and Mini Ninjas is mildly appreciated, because I didn't have those two, and the Tomb Raider game? I gave that one to a friend. Not the best bundle in the world, but certainly not the worst one IMHO, it was just okay for me.

yeah, I contacted support they told me they would not refund it I then copy pasted that section you mentioned and repplied to their email, either way I suppose it is what it is.
edit: just a heads up they denied my second request. I was expecting at least one final fantasy guess I'm just gonna buy them when they are on sale instead.

They wouldn't be able to verify the status of the keys though and Square Enix could use it as grounds for denial regardless of whether they were actually revealed or not. It said upfront that all sales are final and the US doesn't have the same law as some Euro countries might. I don't know if they would actually do it, but might Square Enix blacklist people for attempting this?

But I probably should have made it more clear that in my opinion for example a non steam key for one of the FF MMOs is less desireable than let's say FF7 and thus also more likely to appear in one of their Mystery Boxes or a regular Bundle.

I just finished FFXIII the day before yesterday, and it is a pretty good game in my opinion. According to the reviews it might have started as a poor port, but now it crashed only once during those 104 hours and it was running well in 1920x1200.
Then yesterday I installed FFXIII-2, and I also have the 3rd one, all from these surprise packs - so far I am happy with them (both with the FFXIII series and with the surprise boxes)
