Two games that are beautiful with a story (there is some light dark theme to it, but it's not just simply "dark is bad")
Other games, that I love, that have amazing story
There is also...
Some of those have combat that is a must, but for me, it's still epic gameplay in them. Can't think of more games right now, especially those more peaceful, So I will finish comment with only 6 of them. I hope You will find something for Yourself.

Well since EA came back to Steam: (completed all those titles thanks to Origin Access)
Sea of Solitude
Journey of a young woman struggling with loneliness, I strongly recommend it.
Also recommend those (minimum combat mostly fleeing from enemies really, also contain some puzzles not too crazy)
Unravel
Unravel 2
Fe
Didn't read all the pages here so apologies if someone already suggested them

I don't know if anyone mention "Little Nightmares".
Well, there's not much to talk about, the game is kind of similar to Limbo but the graphics is just beautiful. It is very atmospheric and kind of scary (in tags it says "horror"). You should take a closer look at this one.

hmm ... i've personally played the ace attorney trilogy and the other parts on the 3ds but im unsure if it is interesting enough for you, if deponia is something you like you may look up to the edna & harvey series, there are one of my all time favourites from daedalic ... i've tried to recommend something, that wasn't already wrote down to the comments

OneShot was already recommended but here are some other intiguing titles.
Her Story – I'm not a fan of FMV games (to say the least) but this is absolutely something else. Like OneShot, the less you know about it, the better experience.
Pony Island – I think this is a game where I've had the most laughs, alongside CHUCHEL. Again, the less you know, the better.
The Last Door and Dead Synchronicity – these heavily rely on storytelling and atmosphere. I've enjoyed them a lot too!
As a bonus: CHUCHEL I've mentioned earlier. You fight evil but in a more comedic tone. There's not much of a gameplay but boy I've had fun with it. Of course sense of humor is subjective but personally I've had tons of laughs.

Well, i'm not sure if you would like, but i always talk about Deponia Series (i'm not sure if anyone told about).
It's a point clicker game, however the story is amazing. Maybe you don't like some points of the story, like me, but you will never regret your journey :).

Checked from my 100% list that left a very strong impression and that could fit your journey/exploration style.
Type:Rider (https://store.steampowered.com/app/258890/TypeRider/) - a cool platformer about fonts and types. Pretty original and learning a few things while doing it.
Depth Hunter 2 Deep Dive (https://store.steampowered.com/app/248530/Depth_Hunter_2_Deep_Dive/) - an underwater exploration game, to dive and swim with the fishes and among ruins and shipwrecks, finding treasure scattered around. No enemy to kill, but you can also catch fishes to improve your equipment.
And my favorite of open worlds, Mad Max (https://store.steampowered.com/app/234140/Mad_Max/). Ok it has combat, on foot and against other vehicles, but it's also really great, beautiful, and breathtaking both graphically and for the atmosphere. The exploration facet is huge if you go out of the way and ignore the main quest. Still high in my personal favorites of all-time. Enjoy.
Btw, no need for whitelist, i don't enter giveaways much, i just wanted to share some great titles i enjoyed very much.

I add another small recommendation:
Thomas Was Alone
Comment has been collapsed.
I'll try to suggest some that I didn't see mentioned. All these are free.
Yume Nikki
Exploring a dream world. Had a big influence on Undertale.
There's also a ton of fangames inspired by it. Could recommend a few if you like.
Doki Doki Literature Club
The less you know about it going in the better (even reading the reviews can spoil stuff).
The White Chamber
A nice little horror adventure game.
I don't know if you're into anime but as you're looking for strong emotions, and because of some of the games you've said you really like, I'll recommend Madoka Magica. It's better to go into that blind though. So if you aren't sure if you'd be interested I'll just say if you watch the first three episodes you should know pretty well after that if it's for you.

I will always suggest the Dragon Age series! I'm in love with these games! They have some of the most lovable and fascinating characters, deep immersive lore, and winding, branching storylines based on the choices the player makes! Both series are now on Steam! <3
https://store.steampowered.com/franchise/DragonAge (Starts with Dragon Age Origins, then Dragon Age 2, and the latest is Dragon Age Inquisition, but a fourth one is on the way!)
The same could also be said for the Mass Effect series, the only downside is that not all of the Mass Effect series is on Steam, you would have to use Origin to get the full experience (but I fully believe that the original trilogy, at least, is worth it).
Really most games by Bioware are gems, but they've had some issues in the last couple of years. Of course, this doesn't change the fact that their 'older' games are still some of the best around! https://store.steampowered.com/developer/Bioware

What Remains of Edith Finch <--I know this was mentioned above already, but worth reiterating.
Finding Paradise
I saw a couple of people above mentioned To the Moon, this is made by the same developers. They also have a shorter game called A Bird Story, all worth looking into.
Chrono Trigger is a classic game that I have played so many times over. The story is absolutely fantastic, and the game itself is really good too.
In Other Waters is a really interesting game that's played by reading the text and allowing the descriptions and the minimal visuals to drive your own imagination to see the entire world presented. I recently played through this and was really pleased by it.
Over the Alps has pleasant visuals and is a really nice adventure game. The game currently has only 1 episode out of 3 available in-game, 2nd episode coming in about a week's time. It does not explain everything too well, but I enjoyed bumbling through and learning the game on my own terms.
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice has been mentioned more than once already, definitely worth checking out. You really have to be in the right mindset to play this game, but it's an amazing game from beginning to end.
Katamari Damacy REROLL is one of the games I still keep a PS2 around. Though since this was put onto Steam, I haven't needed that.

A game without combat and story based? I would recommend visual novel!
There are lineal visual novel without any selection of choice. Such as game which talk about machines and Planetarium. The story is touching and you would be immersed by it.

Zero Escape: The Nonary Games is pretty great. This includes the first 2 games of the saga. It is a visual novel with puzzles/escape rooms, but it is definitely story heavy.
Broken Age is a point & click adventure with a nice story, voice acted by Elijah Wood & Jack Black.
Some that were already mentioned before that are great are Pony Island & The Walking Dead telltale, I think TWD fits with what you are looking for, it definitely has that emotional impact that you want.
Let me know if you want more info on any of the games I mentioned or if you want some other recomendation. :)

Danganronpa series. The artstyle might put you off from playing. It was for me too. But I was curious why the game had an overwhelmingly positive rating so I gave it a try.
Turns out it's a really great game. Great story and suspense. I'll doubt you'll get bored.

How do you feel about puzzles? Because Full Bore is pretty great.

This War of Mine - You don't have to kill anyone if you don't want but maybe sometimes you will as the game shows how evil is war for civilians and that anyone can become a monster while desperate and looking for food to not starve.
Beholder and Beholder 2 - no combat but your decisions will affect much things. Can't write more because of spoilers.
Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna) - just the best game about inuits (eskimos).

Submerged is a game i liked very much, and it has no battles at all. I had bought it for 1 euro or so in steam summer sales 2 years ago.
Also, if you can tolerate a small number of easy battles, then i would recommend Prince of Persia (2008). Although the games ages over a decade is still one of my favorites 3D platforming puzzle games.
Both games have a large and very beautiful world to explore with a very few riddles and puzzles. If you are more into puzzles then try the Q.U.B.E and Q.U.B.E. 2.
Whichever your choice is, have fun!

I would like to suggest Journey
This game evoke the sense of companionship by playing with a stranger under the great visual and auditory art .
It also on the PS3 & PS4 and other platforms.
If you like this similar style, I also recommend《Cytus》and《DEEMO》, which have a beautiful art and attractive story~

Hey everyone,
I am looking for recommendations on games to buy and play. Everyone that comes with a serious suggestion are added to my whitelist, and if someone beat you to the punch with your recommendation you can add you comment to tell me WHY you also recommend that game and why I should buy/play that and i will count that too.
I am looking for games that are more focused on a journey than with a world ending evil to defeat at the end - and minimal to no combat. So think Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons or maybe Undertale - games like that. (don't recommend those 2).
I am hoping to find games with an emotional impact, but all tones are welcome (scary, serious, funny, lighthearted)!
Examples of games that i love in this area:
Brothers - A Tale of Two Songs
Undertale
Limbo/Inside
Bastion/Transistor
The First Pokemon (in a way that feeling i mean is there in the journey)
I am planning on adding more whitelist giveaways soon, but for starters here are 5 to get the ball rolling (each running for a week).

Closing the thread now, and for all who got on the wishlist, more giveaways will be made in the following days :)
