Hey, I am kind of new to this site, and I have noticed some men in the trades category that wants 2.5 CS.GO keys for example, what does it mean?

It's a least 2 keys for crates in CS.GO and the half price of a key.

For example, in TF2, it's the same principle: 2.5 keys = 2 keys + something worth half-price of a key (whether in metal or in items).

Thanks guys.
So if I buy them two case key and one capsule key, and they agree to trade, how do we actually perform the trade?

yes, but this items also can't be traded for 1 week, so keep that in mind, and an advice, ppl take Capsule key as 0.5 key, but this doesn't mean ppl will accept 2x Capsule keys instead of 1 CSGO key for example, so 0.5 + 0.5 ≠ 1.

Thanks, do I have to buy the trader the same case key twice or two different types of case key? Or is it depend on the trader?

key means a CSGO case key, or Team Fortress 2 mann co crate key, but lately due to price difference some ppl only accept CSGO keys, and they normally accept any type of CSGO key.

The problem is that keys will be non-tradeable for a week. So, you will have to ask that person could he place that particular game on hold if you buy these keys and show him that you did to trade a week later.

The next issue is the item you want to buy. If it's a Steam gift then you can simply trade for it if it became tradeable already. However, if it's not yet or it's a retail key from the external store then one party have to trust another one and either give keys first or give retail key/send gift first. Usually, active traders have a lot of +rep comments from users with Steam 10+ levels. So, usually you can trust a person with a lot of such comments in the profile. Even better if such person have a SteamTrades account - it's possible to remove negative comments on Steam but not on SteamTrades.

In the worst case you will need a trusted third-part to do the trade for both.

I would recommend asking the trader for confirmation of what they want anyway, just in case, before buying.

If the men offer you candy, don't get in the van without trying the merchandise first.

The usual currency for 0.5 keys are Tour of Duty Ticket(TF2) & Community capsule keys (cs:go). But they are acceptable only if stated so.
2 x of those items don't count as a 1 key. :))

Ofc anything marketable for ~ price of 1/2 key can be accepted e.g skins , sack of gems etc.

Always agree with the other person about what exact items will be traded. Not everyone has the same opinion on what .5 means.
