Heh yeah I spent a few hours in the game. Not as many as you think though because I had to wait 2 hours for Ubisoft to get their act together since their servers crashed and burned right about when everyone tried to download the game at once I guess.
It's the first time the full game is accessible for free, isn't it? I read it was only a limited demo before.
A good half hour was spent adjusting the settings to my liking because there are a looooot more settings than in TC2, which is good because everyone gets the driving they want but after that Vroom Vroom!
It feels a lot more like Forza than like The Crew but that's not a bad thing.
I mostly played playlists so far because I find the world map a little overwhelming and playlists are straighforward but I'm definitely buying it.
And since Ubisoft was good enough to make the Ultimate edition really not worth getting, I'll be spending way less money on it than I thought I'd have to :D

One half of me is agreeing with you, since Forza is great, but the other half says: "Why have a bad copy of that?" And Ubi isn't even ashamed to show it in the very first moment: you enter the tutorial race, you see the lights and deco like in Forza, on your way to the fest(ival) and the radio plays "Trouble's coming" by Royal Blood (FH5 soundtrack as well). Déja vu.
Not sure why they changed tiers and cars can't be used for different types anymore. That was a unique characteristic. Now you need to buy all different versions or editions., to push up car count? At least there still are bikes, planes and boats.
The map and the activities are overwhelming at first and complicated. Some of the playlists are nice just like Forza's stories, but several times I wanted to scream: "just let me launch a race somewhere on the map!"
Scenery is great and graphics are good, yet the lack of DLSS and ray tracing is odd.
Additionally, I don't understand why you can only skip songs and change radio stations during free roam.

Oh definitely. I loved The Crew but thought it needed a makeover. As soon as I started playing Motorfest, I thought to myself "well sure I mean... copying another game entirely is one hell of a makeover XD"
They should have called it The Crew: Motorza Horizon and be done with it.

And I made the mistake of importing my TC2 collection into Motorfest (just to see if it could be done with the free trial really) and now I'm drowning in cars that you can't organize at all (one fave is all you get!) and most of my favorite cars in TC2 don't handle the same at all
At least there still are bikes, planes and boats.
Although you don't get to do much with them or at least it doesn't appear they are much use besides a few feats
I wanted to scream: "just let me launch a race somewhere on the map!"
Haha me too! I am enjoying the "novelty" but I don't think I'll be buying the game until they add a lot more content. I'm already almost done with the playlists and I don't even know what use it is to grind for parts at all anymore since you never get to use your own cars except free roam and the Summit I guess?
It's a bit of a bastard of TC and FH but they didn't really think it through.

Oh, I was happy about the imported cars from TC2 (although I probably should have installed TC2 again and buy more stuff before doing so), because you have more required car types and better cars for free roaming. A filter is definitely necessary though.
Besides the weekly summit there is just Grand Races (28 players, what a crash fest at start) and Demolition Royale, they really need to add more to that. Does your Connect track achievements? For me it's only counting challenges.

Yeah Grand Races are kinda like the Mass Races in Riders Republic. Kinda chaotic but fun. Although you don't get to use modded vehicles either.
Does your Connect track achievements? For me it's only counting challenges.
Nope. Same. I have 33% of the core challenges but 0 achievements and I'm pretty sure I have at least 20 done.
I thought it was because of the free trial but you own the game, right?

Hahaha well I enjoyed my gaming until I realized there was literally nothing left to do after a couple of days.
It's still in my wishlist but I'll wait for the price to go down and the content to go up.
Still, I did have fun and I'm not going to complain about a free game that entertained me a dozen hours or so.
So again, and it's not said enough, thank you Fitzy for keeping us up to date about the free entertainment ;)

How much space do I need to install the trial?
The trial requires a download of the full game, which is around 99.3 GB on PlayStation 5 and around 103 GB on Xbox Series X|S.
Absolutely ridiculous to ask people to download that just for five hours of gameplay which you can't even replay. :D
