I prefer Pepsi because of the more subtle flavour it has compared to the sweetness of Coke. I drink about a bottle of it a month, though, so I can't classify myself as a heavy drinker.
On another note, both of them have negative effects on bone density (which means you're more prone to osteoporosis in the long term), muscle fiber (apart from turning it brown due to the colouring, they also decrease the elasticity of muscle tissue, but that effect shouldn't really be significant unless you actually soak the muscle in it for long periods - Sprite, on the other hand, managed to dissolve most of the protein fiber in cow muscle tissue samples when I experimented with it, leaving a small, white, rubbery piece of flesh/cartilages/fat behind after a one week exposure), and memory (due to containing fructose, which impairs the synaptical activity of neurons responsible for long-term memory formation).
So if you want to break your bones, have saggy pieces of meat hanging off of you and not be able to remember why all of this is happening in about 20 years, keep on drinking.
On a side note, it wasn't particularly hard for me to get from drinking two litres of the stuff a day to barely drinking half a litre a month (and only if I'm eating in a fast food joint or going to a pub). I just started exercising for a couple of hours a day and the need for Coke was immediately replaced by the need for natural juices (OJ, apple juice, anything that's pressed and not made from concentrate) by my body, as those do a better job at providing short-term nutrients and stuff you may lose through physical activity, so I didn't even need to have any willpower to quit it. So if you want to quit it, you may want to give a try to exercising more than you currently are.

I love tea, I have a cup of red (usually the strong ones, like Assam or Ceylon, but sometimes I just go for the taste rather than the kick and I'll have something more interesting) every morning and at least one more, varying in type from white to black, during the day, it can do anything for you in terms of mood, energy or just taste and savour, depending on what you pick. I also collect teas, but that's a completely different field. Coffee, not so much, I simply don't like the taste, although I enjoy coffee-brewed beer.

The problem with Cola and all fizzy drinks is in fact not the ingredients, but the tiny bubbles(or at least my physics teacher explained it that way while explaining how bubbles work). Apparently, the tinier the bubble, the more sucking-in pressure it has(Couldn't think of another way to say it, sorry. ^_^ ). The feeling you have on your tongue and throat(and eventually stomach) is in reality that pressure instead of some acid or ingredient. These bubbles are very harmful since like I said, the smaller the bubble, the higher the pressure. And the bubbles in fizzy drinks are VERY small. Just as an example of how bubbles work- the reason the bottom of ships rusts is because the nose of the ship and the vibrations create many tiny bubbles- so these things can eat trough metal given enough time! I might have not remembered some parts right, but this is more or less it and that is a very professional teacher who said it.
Scared yet? :3
PS: I prefer water...

That's why fizzy drinks are bad for your teeth rather than most of the other areas of your body, as the bubbles aren't sufficient for producing significant lesions on muscle or other tissues that regenerate, but can cause microfissures in teeth which are hard to reach using a toothbrush and eventually become bacterial havens and lead to cavities (with the help of the phosphoric acid in the Coke, which contributes to erosion, and many other factors, of course). It's the same with ships, it's not the bubbles that cause the rust per se (that isn't physically or chemically possible), it's rather their pressure that opens cracks in the bottom and their contents that lead to oxidation, hence rusting. I believe that's the point your professor was trying to make, that the bubbles are the first piece in the domino, thus the main problem.

I myself don't care about these sugar-filled soda drinks they sell at stores. I'd rather make my own drink mixtures of mineral water and juice concentrate. They taste just like soda with all of its fizziness, and you can combine different tasting mineral waters and concentrates to create your own special flavour. My personal favourite is lemon mineral water and strawberry juice concentrate. It's so delicious, and it's really low on sugar.

Taken that most fizzy drinks have an absolutely ridiculous amount of sugar in them, I cut their intake long ago. I also have some belch dysfunctions which render me unable to burp, so drinking soda (mostly coke due to the seemingly huge amount of CO2 in it) makes me feel absolutely awful and sort of bloated. I've switched to drinking hot tea to accompany meals and I have some Ice Tea drinks for when I'm trying to relax.
I leave the Ice Tea bottles on the freezer so they get ice cold, it's delicious.

I drink only purified water, and freshly squished fruit juices, like orange+water or lemon+water with no sugar added. I did drink a lot of everything, but then my stomach lost it's magical ability to digest bricks and armored cars, so now I'm watching what I eat and drink.

There is more sugar in one can of coke as there is in 2 twinkies. If you drink a 20oz everyday, you are essentially drinking 4 twinkies. Drinking 1 can a day results in an average of 15lbs in weight gain each year. Diet is even worse and is highly carcinogenic (cancer causing). Both regular and diet are very hard on your kidneys and regular consumption can lead to renal failure. Replace it with water and a cup of coffee for the caffiene and you will likely notice that you have more energy and generally feel better within a week.

Since I've been drinking coca cola for about 4 years then switched to Pepsi for another 2 years and still drinking it I would want to know your opinions about this coke, pepsi, fanta and other fizzy drinks, as myself I'm trying to stop drinking this crap but it's so full of freaking addictiviness (not even a word) that I drink it nearly every day, post your opinions and statistics about coca cola maybe some of them will scare me that much that I wouldn't even think about it?
tl;dr: Discussion about coca cola and other fizzy drinks
