Just look at Yogscast and RoosterTeeth, they have ads on every video and hell, they're rich!
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't use adblock because I am a huge supporter of independent everything, and ads support people, however rich they already are.

It's a pretty grey area. If they are commenting or reviewing the game, they can use footage of it. But it is pretty iffy in many aspects. Sega recently went around DMCA'ing everything that even had a mention of their games in it and made a lot of people upset.

Parodies are also allowed, and they might have permission as well.

Well, it's F2P and I'm really not much of a strategy fan.
Sorry.

Was always interested in that. Any info on it, why it's different from other FPSs?
Also, I can't buy both, and the first's graphics look atrociously outdated, though I could play through it despite that, if it's really really good.

Awesome plot, atmosphere and graphics. So many ways to play the game too.

Is there a lot of content? Will HR run well on shitty laptops?
Does DE use Nvidia? It'll run much better if it does.
Comment has been collapsed.
Depends how shitty we're talking about here. I played it on a low-end desktop PC with Radeon HD5450 on lowest details and it still had some framerate issues sometimes.
I'm not sure what exactly you mean in the second line, but I don't see why it wouldn't run on Nvidia cards. Just in case, this cam come in handy.
Comment has been collapsed.
A lot of games like Borderlands and Just Cause use Nvidia graphics. I also don't know what it means, but I can play Borderlands 1 or 2 with literally no lag because I have a Nvidia graphics card.
Is that link something that makes DE1 look better? I honestly have no idea.
Comment has been collapsed.
"Use Nvidia graphics" doesn't make sense as a phrase. Nvidia makes graphics cards, not actual graphics. Graphics are made by the people who draw and animate the game. Some games use Nvidia's PhysX, which can be emulated on CPU's for people with an AMD card, but it eats a lot of power and you are generally better off just not using it without a powerful CPU.
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm sorry for not having knowledge about graphics engines, I am very young and have a very simple grasp of these things.
All I know is that games that have a "Nvidia" before the title screen run much faster and better than any other game on my laptop.

Dragon Age Origings isn't $20 but I hear it's pretty good. Metacritic

Dayum, that looks great!
... too bad the sale ends real soon.

When I saw 'Addicting' gameplay, I was going to say Sid Meier's Civ games, you then said not too much turn based so I won't.
Don't know of any other 'really' addicting games. When I sit down to play Civ, I swear the clock speeds up, too many times have I meant to have only a couple of hours of playing up to 11 / 12 ish and the next thing I knew it's 4am. No other game I've played would make me sit and play 4 or 5 hours more than I meant to without me realising it :/
Off-topic: Apparently someone has a game on Civ 2 that they started over 10 years ago and have reached a ridiculous stalemate but he isn't giving up.
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm a big indie fan, a lot of indies are very addicting, like most of Edmund M.'s games.
Civ has been suggested so often to me, but I absolutely cannot play strategy/turn-based games besides turn-based RPGs like DoD. I just want to be in on the action, you know?
Comment has been collapsed.
Yea as I said, I wasn't really suggesting Civ after your point about not wanting turn based games. More just me waffling on about the fact that Civ is the only game that I've got that is un-put-down-able for long periods.
Second closest to that would be Borderlands, but after a couple of hours, I begin to get a bit bored so need to stop.

I've beaten both Borderlands so many times, it isn't even funny....
Thanks for the suggestion, though.

I am ridiculously impatient. No matter how much I want to do this, I cannot.

Is $15 worth it?
I hate all-stealth games, would I like this?
Otherwise, I've been interested in it, but haven't seen much about it.

Which is better NV, or 3?
I'm not even thinking about getting the DLCs now.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well you said you have 20 so why not get both, they are ten each I think.
As to which is better, not sure ive never played new vegas but its pretty much the same game just in different places.
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't think I will get both. Just not interested. Want some variety.
I'll look it up a little more, see if there's a preference among fans, but this is actually a pretty likely buy for me.

How frequently? I'm getting the $20 this weekend due to my birthday, and me waiting more than a week would be very difficult.

I own a similar game, it's alright, but $10 is not worth it.

Dark Souls. The community is a continuous trainwreck of complete assholes but the coop is fun.

Want something really odd? Then check out Cargo! The Quest for Gravity.
You can't really go wrong with Europa Universalis Rome (just make sure to get the Gold version, containing the expansion. Pre-expansion, it is not great)
Myst is still one of the best adventure games out there. Won't post a gameplay video for this one though, as it would spoil some of the fun.
I love Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim, it is one of the most unique RTSs I've ever played. It needs to be experienced though, a simple video won't do it justice.

Cargo- have it, got stuck on the second winter...
Don't like strategy/turn-based war or w/e games.
Myst... I looked on the Game Hub and it appears that the "3d" version is ridiculously poorly optimized and lags like hell.
EDIT: I am hilariously picky but none of you have suggested games I'm interested in besides Fallout and Dragon Age.

L.A. Noire Complete edition is on sale now for just 7.5 bucks.
Super Meat Boy for 4.49.
Trine 2 for 3.75.
The Witcher 2 for 20 bucks.
A lot lot more to me, maybe doesn't fit your taste.
Comment has been collapsed.
I have all of them except L.A. Noire and that's the only one I'm not interested in.
Thanks anyway, the other games are awesome...

Mark of the Ninja is probably one of the best platformers I've played.
Mirror's Edge. If you want the DLC you won't be able to get it on Steam but it's an awesome base game otherwise.

There's Forge, which has a free weekend going on right now so you can try before you buy.
Warframe, really fun F2P game, I've been addicted to it the past couple of days.
FTL, great space rogue-like.
Would definitely recommend the Mount & Blade series, specifically Warband and its DLC, lots of fun to be had there.
Comment has been collapsed.
Hm. Might check out Forge. Price is low and gameplay looks fun.
I've heard a lot about Warframe, but after the incident with TF2 I don't think I could bring myself to play it.
I love roguelikes but I've heard that FTL is entirely luck-based, and it doesn't interest me.

I don't want to wait for a sale, but I probably could.
Read above response on FTL.

Really any of the Ys games may fit the bill. Ys Origin has a demo even if you want to try it before you buy it. If you haven't played any of the games, would recommend starting with Oath in Felghana, but any are fine to start with and Ys Origin has the most overall replay value with three different playable characters. And if you love good soundtracks these games have some of the best.
But if you want some gameplay here you go:
Oath in Felghana gameplay
Ys origin gameplay (video is of Japanese version)

I'm going to be honest, that looks really good and interesting, but the $15 price tag is driving me away.
Comment has been collapsed.
I can understand when you want more than one. But I've put 456 hours into Oath in Felghana and 630+ into Origin and paid full price for both. They are worth it. But I can also understand wishlisting them and waiting for a sale.
Comment has been collapsed.
If you like Action RPG then definitely Torchlight. I'm waiting for an offer to buy both of them but if you want you can buy the second one since the story is not very complex. Even if you don't like RPGs you can still enjoy that game, it's very addictive! Here's a video of the gameplay and some features.

Get Dead Island for $9.99 while it's on sale. It's an open-world first-person game with an emphasis on melee and includes RPQ elements like skill trees (so kind of like Borderlands?). I've played many hours on it (not on this steam account), and there's something addicting about bashing up zombies where it doesn't get old. Here's a video of a walkthrough for the game (jump to 7:50 for some action): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBPn6U6rt8w (side note: I'm not sure if this is what you consider "paid youtuber" stuff, but I've watched many of this guy's videos, and they're hilarious and well-made.)
Although I've never played it, I hear Max Payne is a good series too for its story (the bundle of the first two games is one sale for $7.50 right now, but it ends Apr 29th :/ ).

StarDrive looks like SPaZ, and I regret that purchase.
Dragon Age is no longer on sale.

Are they any good? I saw the first one is a TPS. I can play TPRPGs, but TPS is definetely not my style.

it's really good.. i've put over 100 hours of game time into each one and like them very much :)
i recommend them.. really nice RPGs. and with options to go light side or dark side depending on the choices you make, it has a reason to replay it

Soon I will come in contact with exactly $20 on my Steam account.
Any suggestions? I'm open to everything that I don't hate. Which is to say I am not open at all.
If you suggest something, please make sure I don't have it, and please post a video of decent gameplay. None of that "paid youtuber" shit, just some gameplay.
I would prefer more than one game.
I like addicting games, and I am open to many genres, but nothing too turn-based.
Also- soundtrack and story can make or break a game for me.
Thank you in advance. I honestly have no idea what I'll get, yet.
