How much would you pay for a Skyrim Survival mod?
Pay....for mods?
Please don't give them the idea that people would actually do this.
They got burned the first time around, let's hope they learned their lesson for all time.
EDIT: I read the article & the features the mod has. We already have mods that do what they're trying to convince people to pay for.

I remember Bethesda's first foray into paid mods and the huge amount of backlash that came with it.
That should be more than enough.

They made it since then, but since it is not on Valve's platform but their own, it is now the best thing that ever happened to gaming as far as the plebs is concerned. Many of the ones foaming about it on the Steam forums are among the most vehement defenders of the current new system, which still does the exact same, only now Bethesda takes an even larger cut.

The problem is not only paid mods, but they shove locked paid mod content onto your system via "mandatory update", clogging up your system and messing up existing mods.
Fuck Bethesda.

But why ? Yes - with creation club and all these overpriced mods they are shooting themselfs in the foot.
But why would that drain your excitiment for next game in the franchise ? Stupid decisions in marketing doesnt affect how physics work in the game, how story is written and how the game is made.
And, isnt all this nonsense thanks to the publisher not developer ? So i dont see how this could affect the next game.

I am fairly sure there is already a mod for this (can't remember the specific name right now, though).

Indeed! Have to try it sometime soon. Searching for Frostfall reveals that there's even an entire website dedicated to Skyrim survival mods.
The sum of Campfire, Frostfall and Last Seed is a whole new experience. Adds hunger, thirst, hypothermia and disease, among other features.

I wouldn't pay for it. Not because I think it's inherently wrong to pay for mods but because there's been several free mods that do the same already. I might pay for something Skyrim related if it was something actually original.
I mean, I barely play Skyrim any more so it would have to be something really interesting and new to make me install it again.

yeah a combination of Frostfall, Campfire, Wet and Cold, Hunterborn, and others

I remember trying out some "realistic needs" mod on the original Skyrim (not the Special Edition) back then, while I liked the idea that food cold etc. would have some more impact, I soon found the mod to be rather annoying, because rate at which hunger etc. was building up, was much too quick. Maybe this mode is more balanced, I don't know, but I definitely wouldn't pay for it.

Could not select a negative amount of money, SAD :( I can not stress enough how much I dislike these "survival" modes, at best they're boring as hell. I know some people enjoy playing like that, but for me it's a complete bore and unnecessary "challenge".

This is not "all new" in the slightest. It is a combination of 4 mods already existing at the Nexus.

>>>Survival mode will cost 800 Creation Club points(equivalent to 15 USD)<<<
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OX219ZscZxY
From a moderator on the Reddit thread:
This is getting a bunch of reports as misleading, and yes while it's true the mode itself is 800 credits, you cannot get 800 credits without spending $15 dollars for 1500 credits since 800 sits conveniently in between the 2 currency purchasing options you have available to you (750 credits for $7.99 or 1500 Credits for $14.99)
Because of this, we don't feel this is misleading in the slightest. I'd ask people to stop reporting it but that won't happen. I'm just posting here to explain why we're not labeling this as misleading.

Ngl, I'm really grossed out by their insistence that they should monetize the concepts already proven popular by freely made mods out of the community. They're not bringing anything new to the table, they're essentially ripping off unpaid fanlabor and slapping a price tag on it. If they didn't want mods to be available/widely used then they shouldn't have provided the creation kit in the first place.

I have played Skyrim to the end and got Special Edition free but haven't really tried it yet.
Honestly, which one is the better between them? Special Edition has the better engine but seems like the original seems to be the better one for mods. Not sure which is better for graphics overall after mods.

This depends on your viewpoint. I don't think it matters much when it comes to graphics but the new engine has better resource handling and fewer limitations and once they manage to get SKSE64 ready it should be equally moddable. The only real downside from my perspective once SKSE is ready would be the Creation Club messing with your load order and stuff like that. I suppose someone will figure out a relatively easy solution for that eventually though.
