And look at all the givaways from people who bought the bundle, but didn't check to see if there were seperate keys first! (there aren't)

This weekly bundle is targeted to a very niched type of gamers.

Awesome deal. Sadly, I have already purchased the most current versions. I have 80+ hours in the latest games.

Well, I already preordered X Rebirth with spare card money, I may pass on that. Otherwise I can't deal with my backlog before november...

Deal with backlog? I've heard of this, but not sure what it means. Backlog can only grow... :)

Oh come on.. what is this...?

EDIT:
Sorry for my rage, I just really hoped for something good at last.

A very nice and competent space combat/merchant/bussiness/etc. sim ;D Very niche, but not horrible...

Also: It could have been an other music bundle ;D

I have nothing against you or anyone else who loves these kinds of games. But it starts to get frustrating that about weeks I can't get my hands on anything worthy (In MY OPINION) on the weekly sale.

But hey, as long as it pleases the majority I guess I can live with it.... for now....

I don't even care anymore. Have been buying bundles for so long that my backlog is so immense that not getting new stuff doesn't matter at all ;D

I do have to admit that you only really need the latest game. But some of us are collectors :(

Never heard about this game, and seems they're bad, so I'm not buying this one.

They aren't really bad in their genre. Very good really. Not just most people's thing...

Not for me then, I like the space feeling in games, but with good graphics.

The X3 games seem to have good graphics.

x3 has fantastic graphics. That said, it's a space sim, and as such can seem rather underwhelming because of how empty space is.

These are very good games...not sure where you heard they're bad from

These are great games! Like Freelancer, Privateer, Tachyon the Fringe etc. Graphics are good (on the X3 series at least, X2 as well)
Recommend!

It's definitely a niche, if you don't like this sort of game save your money. But if you do enjoy this space stuff, it's a fantastic deal.

Maybe pay $1 and try the 8-year-old X3: Reunion first. If you hate it, you only lost $1. But if it looks like fun, you might consider paying $5 more for the newer games. Up to you! :)

Well, is the 1st tier worth it at all?

I was looking for a relaxing sim game for a while, so I'm thinking of giving a dollar.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I think X3 is absolutely worth 1 dollar.

The older games aren't really needed unless you want to experience the whole story...

There isn't really much options here... Though the games are more of trade imperium building than combat I think...

But it won't come with the rest of X3, is it still worth it that way? Or will I be missing a lot of the experience?

The Reunion is probably good for tens or hundreds of hours ;D

The latter games do fix some issues, but Reunion is probably good starting point to see if you want Rebirth in future...

The controls of this series are soooooooo fucked up.

Do they HAVE a story? Like an actual narrative with characters and an ending and all?
Or is it a sim like "The Sims" where you just play do trading, and whatnot and see how much money you can make with no other real goal or end-game?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I think they have story missions.

But you can do without, just trade and kill stuff...

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

There is story, but like Elder Scrolls, GTA etc. many people only play enough story to unlock various things, and then just play sandbox. If you enjoy this sort of game, you can sink hundreds of hours into it completely ignoring 99% of the story missions.

Never heard of the X series, but the moment it came up, I looked at it and though it to be VERY INTERESTING. Bought the whole thing immediately. Only that HUGE download...

That too... Started with X3 Reunion as merchant to get to know the game. So far I have explored only 3 sectors LOL and am trying to make some money. At least I have found out how to change from the slow freighter to the faster protector to explore the sector ;)

PS: Don't buy this bundle if you want to spend the rest of your life figuring out how this game works.
In alrady regret buying the BTA. (yea)

Problem comes when you take a break, and play something else... When you go back to one of these games, you have to learn everything all over again. :( But it's a lot of fun. :)

really, it took me about 5 minutes on the first game to figure it all out, i do have previous experience with many hours on freelancer though :)

Picked up X3TC in the last Steam sale for a pittance. I'm enjoying it a lot, definitely getting the BTA bundle.

It's a niche game, but if the genre of sandbox space sims interests you, this is definitely a good place to start (X-Universe is pretty much the only space sim series that has been released in the last decade or so).

Remmeber I got X3: Reunion on a magazine and seriously it wasn't my kind of game. It's a little bit hard but I'm sure you'll enjoy them if you like space games.

I have a question : is that correct ? Terran Conflict contains everything that's in Reunion, and Albion Prelude contains everything that's in Terran Conflict ? So, just installing Albion Prelude is Enough because it has all the features of the others ?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

(Quick note, X3:R is Reunion, X3:TC is Terran Conflict, and X3:AP is Albion Prelude)

X3:R is the oldest X3 game.

X3:TC is its standalone expansion.

X3:AP is an expansion to X3:TC

So yeah, I guess you could get away with installing just AP, I think you can play it without downloading TC from Steam. That being said, AP is different from TC. There are different plotlines, and different gameplay mechanics than in TC or in R. It may be worth a shot to install both TC and AP (but play TC first because its UI is just a little bit more clunky and it's hard to go back from AP) and play them both.
