Had my first dupe GA this past month. The winner was very kind and understanding but man, I hated that feeling of letting someone down.
I guess you were bound for one. 1986 was just pushing it :P

I am glad for no dupe key yet. Since most of my winners haven't even say thank you, it would break my nerves to get approval to delete. I once was allowed delete giveaway when key turned to be for different game from its series, but it was group giveaway, not public.

Thanks to the friendly User who won my "Batman: Arkham Knight Premium Edition" GA and allowed me to delete the GA after the key turned out to be a dud.
It was my first time having to ask for a deletion so I'm thankful it went so smooth :)
