your loss but ARMA 2 + OA are their own game the mod is just a mod like wasteland. You are ok to feel the way that you are. But That doesn't change the fact DAYZ standalone is its own and b/c people bought nether Dean is smart to put up the price he did. . . And You got the mod for free you never paid for the mod. You bought ARMA 2, which is a great game what the dayz mod was for.

I bought Arma II for Dayz too and no this is not fair.

I also bought it for dayz knowing a standalone was coming out, but I also started to play other game modes, there is much more to arma than just dayz. also the standalone will hopefully after its out of testing to be a lot less glitchy, and more will be available

Nope, you paid that for Arma 2: Combined Ops, which you got. If you decided to spend money on it just to be able to play a free mod then that was your choice. Again, you didn't pay anything for DayZ mod. It's not unusual for a mod that is popular and successful enough to get turned into an upgraded standalone experience. Take Natural Selection II for example.

Well, it is worth noting that the devs for ARMA 2 are also the publisher/devs of DayZ standalone. So they've benefited a great deal from DayZ as a mod and it wouldn't be unreasonable to thank their fans.

They weren't originally. Following the success of the free DayZ mod, the team behind that got hired by Bohemia Interactive to a do a full standalone game, which is what you are seeing now. Has Bohemia benefited from the popularity of DayZ mod via Arma II sales?? Undoubtedly. But they don't owe anyone anything just because someone bought one of their games just to play a free mod and now wants to complain about their decision. To pretend or claim that they do is pure folly.

I know, but many people don't. They assume BM mod = requires HL2.
I remember a long thread on the Steam HL2 forum shortly after BM was released and how the mods were overwhelmed with all the people bitching in that forum instead asking for help in the original BM forum.

don't really much. The game just shattered early access sales records. Even more so the reality of the situation will not convince people that they paid for the game and not the mod. No matter what happens the game will sell like hot cakes and people were bound to kick and scream no matter what. . . for that is what the internet peeps do best.

But the company that is now paying for the development of and profiting from the sales of is now the same company that benefited from the sales ARMA that were caused solely by DayZ. The number of people who bought ARMA II for DayZ are way higher than those that bought the game originally. They've made truckloads of cash off fans of the mod, and now they're gonna make more off the standalone.
It doesn't seem unreasonable for them to thank fans by, say, taking 10 bucks off the standalone's price. I'm not saying that they owe those of us that bought it, but longtime fans who supported the mod (and ARMA II) way back before a standalone was even announced are the whole reason we even have a standalone. Allowing them to save a little money for their support would be a pretty cool move on Bohemia's part, considering they've made money due to something they had little to do with, initially.

You're not 100% right. Bohemia themselves said whole Arma 2 sales before DayZ are 3 times smaller then number of copies sold after DayZ, in first 3 months. And nobody knew about standalone then.
It's one of those "free with purchase" bonuses, when you only want bonus.
But you're right, Bohemia doesn't owe anything to anyone. They took the risk of PR hit and weren't hit, so now they swim in money :P

If you bought ArmA only for DayZ then well... you wasted it's potential.

Does it says anywhere it will drop? It wasn't kickstarted, and in those cases price likes to go up when game became more stable/with more features - like <edited due to wrong game> or Arma 3.
Just to make replies less confusing, I mistakenly thought Prison Architect used Take on Mars pricing.

By the way, didn't Prison Architect devs say that the price is so high because it's unfinished and they wan't to scare off the people who want a polished product or something like that?
And then started force-selling it on summer sale by putting it on deals several times?
I'm probably mistaken so maybe someone more in-topic can shed some light on this for me, I'd appreciate it.

Hm, steamprices.com tells me it was 26€ since the start with some discounts on the way? (Euro Region 1)

Oh no worries. If anyone has info on the 'high price since it's for beta-testers' and 'discounts buybuybuy sale frontpage! I'd appreciate it. :)

I know Planetary Annihilation devs went that way, with a scary 80€ starter price from memory.

A good launch trailer. I'm afraid it's too early, I hope it doesn't receive too many negative feedbacks.
