An RPG kid eh?
I think would be "Elderscrolls: Skyrim" would be a No-Brainer. Two Worlds 1 or 2, The other Elderscrolls games (Oblivion, Morrowind).
Of course, you could always get him "Mount and Blade". There were a lot of games in that series, perhaps he does not have them all yet?

I would suggest the ball also. On the topic, 12 year old kids like dota2. Don't ask me why, have no idea.

Get him outside and talking to people and socializing. I doubt you want him to be alone and have no g/f like some of us here.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yes you should totally force him to go outside and socialize so he turns into one of those everyday assheads with no personality of their own and who live their lives by how others dictate them, because having a girlfriend is obviously so very important because prioirites and random bullshit.

It's better to spend life between four walls, constantly waiting and praying that something happens one day.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I've been sitting at the computer most of my life since i was 9 or 10. Have lots of friends and a great girlfriend. Let the kid do whatever interests him ffs.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Its his life let him do what he wants, but i am guessing he is a bit of a gamer as well

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Exact same position as you. Couldn't be happier. Me and my fiance plan on getting married when I graduate college. I spend at least 12 hours a day on the computer during breaks.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Gotta agree to HellKnight.
I lost many years of my life playing games on the computer when I was a teenager. While my friends at school were learning nice things (guitar, dance, sports...), having their first relationships, exploring the world..., I was sitting in front of my desktop playing mmo games with people I didn't know.
You may say I felt good and had fun back then, but that is not completely true. I felt bored and tired in the same intensity.
That was something I regret a lot. Seriously.

budget? what genre are you thinking specifically?

Since there are no clues given. For a 12 year old boy, I would suggest worms revolution or reloaded

I want a game for him that's under £10, but it the game could go on sale on steam so it could become cheaper

Comment has been collapsed.

Well here's my suggestions then

  • Worms reloaded or revolution
  • World of goo
  • Quantum conundrum
  • Ace of spades
  • Bastion
  • Magicka
  • Torchlight 2 (A little bit complicated but you said he likes RPG)
  • Krater
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Go for Bastion. Great game, not to complex and even if he won't like it later when he grows up he should really appreciate it :)

Permalink

Bastion is indeed an awesome game.

It was a little disappointing that the weapon challenges & messing about in the trips to who knows where took up a larger portion of the game than the actual plot.

If you want to play with him, I would suggest any Lego games.

Me and my cousins have been playing it in 1 pc in split screen, although you will need a extra gamepad controller for it

Trine or Trine 2 are also great games to play with someone else. I know my little brothers cared a lot more about playing games with me when they were little than I ever realized. (they're in their 20's now)

Skyrim.
Although it may depend on your budget and how overprotective you are.
If you really want to have a great time, give him old DOS games (Wolfenstein 3D, Commander Keen, Indiana Jones, ... The list goes on) and force him to relive the glory days!
Also, this!
