As far as I know (and from my personal experience) SSD doesn't have any benefits while recording over HDD. A 7200 RPM will do the job especially since we are talking about sequential writing which is not a weak point for a HDD at all. I personally prefer my HDD for recording it's kinda annoying to move files from the SSD if I was recording there (since mine is a 250GB Evo 840 it gets filled quite fast when recording even through I have over 150GB free at the moment)

What he said. A HDD with plenty of free space can typically sustain 100MB/s sequential writes or more. If it's a really old drive or mostly full of data then it will be less but still should be plenty.

SSD will have a smoother recording because it cannot be fragmented.
On the other hand, I highly doubt you would record with such a bitrate, even uncompressed, that would cause lags even on a 5200 rpm HDD.

Plus yes, writing a lot on an SSD eventually wears it out. This is why it is generally suggested to not hibernate an OS on an SSD.
Still, it takes several years of continuous use to wear an SSD down to the point where it becomes too slow or unreadable.
