Steam/Valve News

About 2 days ago community items (trading cards, emoticons, backgrounds) for games removed from Steam by Valve, for things such as fake reviews, were made unmarketable.
All listed items on the market were cancelled and returned to the inventories to their owners, the market pages for the items still exist but they are now useless.

Are the items still remain tradable?
YES

Can we make badges?
YES

Can you make gems out of the items?
YES

Do cards still rop from removed games?
YES

Some reddit info
Some Giveaway

Valve is very active!

Since beginning of this year they removed 40 games until today!
The reason lies within WHY the games are removed..

*Do we need notifications about removal of a game
YES, but unfortunatly they give no info...

List #1 since 2013
chronology etc infos
List #2 only 2017
community hubs for listed games

If a license just ends like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Hotwheels,
it doesnt affect the Items on the market,
but if the developer of the games went against the Valve AGB´s and the games gets removed cuz of that,
all the items out of these games, are not worth a penny and are only tradable..

cuz of that reason like in here;

I would prefer a solution which only hurts the developer, e.g. no profits, but Valve probably hadn't thought of this when making contracts..or it is related to the copyright of the graphics on the cards.

And thanks for the GA!

Well, this was discussed before in this thread. They can't allow the cards to be sold and not give the developers a cut, because the devs made those items and thus have a right to a cut of the income from them.

Damn, looks like the dev of Art of Stealth wasn't the end of it. Nicely done, Valve.

I'm glad with this decision, it's kind of silly DH can give out THOUSANDS of keys and generate a ton of revenue just on cards. This has inspired countless other "developers" to asset flip shitty games onto greenlight. It probably wont deter that many people but at least it might make them think twice about doing fake reviews and market manipulation. Personally I have tons of card drops remaining as I don't idle my games period, I like to give every game a shot which usually means I'll play it just enough time to get the cards naturally. So I lost out on probably $5 worth of card sales from said games but I'd prefer this over making pennies.

I bet we start seeing contracts that involve market revenue such as if your game gets removed from Steam you are no longer entitled to ANY market revenue. That way the customers like us can still get our pennies or buy some cards to complete sets. Having to trade (most likely overpay) for cards from these banned games will be a pain and paying full price in gems is almost never worth it for a booster.

My 2 cents :)

Edit: Thanks for the giveaway!

in steam community discussion its talked about the music upload files problem , so the copyrights werent payed out for those tracks

"It was because of copywright with Newgrounds' music, and people uploading songs from other artists to use in a GD level."

I wonder if this is a step in the same direction as the awful paid mod failed attempt.

Exactly! And most of those positive reviews come from friends of the developer's main account.

I´d like to get at least info about the removal of a game,
the reasons are second ranked for me, (in this case license expired)
but it would be nice to add up my library if I feel like the game is worth the bucks.. ( I was lucky to get noted by a friend!)

Pff I can definitely see why they want to stop distributing the game, and it's fine by me. But by preventing trading the related items they punish the players, not the devs. Now, since I bet they'll stop giving booster packs for those too, I'll be stuck with half a badge, ie a few useless cards taking up space in my inv :/

until now u r able to trade em, make gems etc, u just cant earn some money with...cuz than the developer may get some money too! Steam prevents that with its harh movement!

Yeah but completing a badge is now very hard, because without being able to buy extra cards, you need to find someone willing to trade with cards from another set :/
