Hey all. I've been lurking this site for years now, but my buddy Fnord talked me into posting. I recently made a quick giveaway where in the description, I announced my cancer had come back. Fortunately it's a type of tumor that's super sensitive to radiation, and I'm already almost done with said rads. Basically I wanted to say hi to this lovely community, and thank everyone who posted on my initial panicked giveaway with a supportive message :) Looking forward to getting to know people here!

EDIT: I've posted here a few times and have briefly mentioned it, but recently remembered I never officially updated yall. Cancer's in remission again! Since mid-August! And this time around I have a competent doctor keeping an eye on things while I get scans to keep things updated every few months. I have some giveaways to celebrate that I've been cancer free a while :) Enjoy!

Sad to hear it came back, but glad to hear it's a weakling! I don't know what level you are, but you sure are a higher level hero than that cancer is!

Yeah cancer is a b1tch .... you can stop smoking for 6 years and still get a tumor on your throat the size of a walnut ...
luckily if you manage to catch it early enough its relatively easy to get rid of .

I announced my cancer had come back. Fortunately it's a type of tumor that's super sensitive to radiation, and I'm already almost done with said rads.

I'm sure you've been told this already, but please don't ever neglect your checkups with the doctor. My doctor in Atlanta recommended once a month up to a year after the last signs of cancer are gone and then once every six months after that. The more the better. Stay on top of it like white on rice a paper plate in a snowstorm.

Very glad to hear your radiation is almost finished! That's awesome!

Thanks! After my original battle with it, my (now former) oncologist was bold enough to use the term "basically cured" so I didn't bother with checkups for over 6 months. When I finally did go in and get scans and bloodwork done, turned out it had returned. So from now on I'm 100% doing as recommended by my doctors and keeping a close eye on it.

My grandpa was originally diagnosed with lung cancer, operation/radiation successfully put him into remission and he felt like he had conquered it. I had to drag him to the doctor for his checkups and finally after a few months he just flat out refused to go thinking he was completely cured. Cancer came back and spread to his lymph nodes and eventually died from it, so I can't stress checkups enough.

After my original battle with it, my (now former) oncologist was bold enough to use the term "basically cured"

The more accurate term that oncologist should have used was "remission". Cancer's not technically cured until after 5 years of no symptoms. Even then, it's better to be safe then sorry. I'm happy you got a new one lol

Don't ever neglect your checkups good sir/madam :P
