To clarify, the game needs to have a steam-store value. There are plenty of games which give 0 contributor value, despite never having been free (and thus won't make you level up). Games with an active store page, but which are purchase disabled give 0 CV.

technically someone needs to update the faq... its not very clear, a least it wasnt for me when i first came.

it wasnt. especially the levels part. i used to think if i created my first GA thats worth x euros, to get to level 2 i need to GA 2x worth of game. and then to get to level3 i need to give 2(2x)euros worth and so on. there is another thread that clarifies this and i think that table of CV and level u get is a better method to clarify leveling on this site

To be honest, no, it isn't clear. Style-wise it's a hard-to-approach wall of text and reads like a technical document. There's also the "Guidelines" page which has a lot of info not included in the FAQ. There's even rules and practices that aren't explained at all but that you'll only find out from asking people on the forums (or them telling you after you've done it).
It's long overdue for a re-write.
