Mafia II was the first game I activated on Steam, Star Wars: KOTOR was the first one I bought on Steam.
I didn't want Steam and resisted installing it for years, but than there were fewer and fewer games which didn't require it.

gratz with awesome milestone and thanks for giveaway, the 1st game bought on steam was ravaged + jurassic park ,then dishonored, portal bundle, dragon age origins ultimate and borderlands 2.

My first game on Steam was Portal 2. A friend gifted it to me because he wanted to play it co-op. That's how it all started. xD

I think it was Half-Life 2 years ago. Then there was some years skip until I actually started using Steam regularly.

I'm getting to 1k myself, but the increase in numbers considerably slowed down after I had a kid and noticed that I didn't have time to play even the ones I already have.

My first game was Serious Sam HD:TFE when it had a free weekend in 2009. A few years later came back to Steam as more and more games became digital only and cannot remember which game I actually bought first.
