Now that I think about it, this is a bit similar to remote play on the PlayStation. So yeah, it might be possible much later on.

Seems useless since they need to be on the same network, why not just use the other PC

You can run the game on your PC and play it on your TV located in your hall, that the purpose, or a good idea to me, I can have my PC in my bedroom, and my monitor in the garden, so I can play there, that will be nice :D

But still need to see how I do this, since I need to connect the monitor to something from where comes the streaming data, my Nexus 5 Android smartphone could be an option, if it's possible xd, but i need a special cable to connect it via HDMI to the monitor.

Edit: Ah no I can't do this, Android is not supported.

I use it to play games on my TV.

Using a small small very underpowered HTPC connected to the TV. This thing can't do anything other than play/stream video. I've seen toasters with more CPU power but it works very well with In-Home Streaming.

The benefit of this is two things:

1) It's too far for an HDMI/USB cable combo without using some very expensive hardware etc. Playing over the network makes a lot more sense.

2) There's no need to install games on two PCs, configure settings, or transfer savegames (for those titles without Steam Cloud). This might sound like a minor thing but installing once and being able to play the game on several computers makes the whole thing a lot smoother.

If they supported alot more devices like tablets and smartphones it could work. Or if they made it so that maybe 2 people can stream games but the quality for both would be downgraded if the PC can't handle it.

Play your demanding games on lower-end systems
System requirements dictate the rig you’ll need to run your game, but with In-Home Streaming they won’t limit where you can play.

b... but... how... i'm lost:|

it means you are sitting in front of a low-end pc playing while there is a high-end somewhere in your home processing instead of your low-end. Don't ask why wouldn't the player sit in front of the high-end pc.
Check the comment Cim made. It maked more sense. That is how it should be used it seems.
But still... sitting in front of the high end is easier.

sitting in front of the better pc is easier indeed. but if i buy a brand-new desktop computer (or build one) that means i can put it in my room and play on my old laptop anywhere in house. too bad i'm not living in my home for around eight months of a year but instead i'm out of town because of my college so it's no use for me. but it might be useful for some people. thanks for clearing it up.

Same here. But it's 10 months here and steam is unavailable in the network provided by the university. They don't want us to play games anyway.

there's little to discuss.

Get a wired connection, upgrade your modem/switch to gigabit
Wifi is still inferior even you are literally 1cm away from your 802.11ac antenna.
Old game streaming will be a hit or miss.
Multiple controllers while using kb/m is buggy so Couch coop gaming is not really viable for all games.
They even removed the feature where you can use controller in the host PC while also using a controller in the client PC. So you can Split the screen to 2 monitors, e.g. 1 in the basement where the host PC is and 1 upstairs in the big TV.
(not sure if they changed this), Finally, before I stopped using it, they muted the sound on the host pc making my example above not really possible to do anymore.

I stopped using it when it falls to my expectation to at least match my 100ft hdmi/ethernet extender + 100ft usb extender(or using synergy) performance.

Yes the streaming feature is free, but it is really hit or miss for now. I think it doesn't deserve to leave beta yet.

How so? Are you talking about remotely logging onto your home network from your office?

Really interesting imo. I have 2 devices I game with: a powerful gaming desktop and a 3 months old laptop for games with low/medium requirements.
If this works well I dont have to install any games on my laptop (if they are installed on my main computer that is).
One question comes to mind though. I'm playing wireless on my laptop on the same network. Did anyone test it using a wireless device? Any hiccups or lag? Is it even doable?
I wont be playing MP games. Just some adventure and indie titles probably. But is says "System requirements dictate the rig you’ll need to run your game, but with In-Home Streaming they won’t limit where you can play." Does that mean I would be able to play Assassins Creed IV on my laptop? Now that would be sweet!
I would like to know your experiences, whatever your setup. Is it as good as it seems to be?

My gaming rig is at the attic, while I can take my laptop anywhere I want, even into the garden. I can crank up the volume without waking the kids or wife late in the evening or at night (and I dont need to use a headset which means I cant hear the kids in case they need attention). I see a lot of potential and will check it out this evening.

Gaming in the garden was my first thought with this. That would be fun if it's nice out. Unfortunately it's cloudy and cooler today where I am after a few days of sun so that will have to wait.

My circumstances are such that I probably wouldn't find any other use for it. I'm sure others will though, and it's a nice feature to have.

Did you read the whole thread?
My gaming pc is switched on all the time when I'm at home. It's my download pc and I use it to stream movies and series to my tv using a mediaplayer, so I have no problem with it.

Flexibility & portability. Run your game on your main gaming PC, play it somewhere else. In bed or on the toilet with your crappy laptop that can't play games by itself. In your living room on your home theater PC that before this was only good for web browsing and watching movies.
