I don't like Steam (seriously)

I have created 3 giveaways The Public One, The Contributor One and The Private One. And the thing about Steam. I was playing Dota with my friends, then my game starts lagging terribly. I quickly figured out what was happening. Steam started downloading update, so I killed Steam.exe, but dota2.exe didn't like it and crashed. When update was finally finished and I run Dota everything was over.. Then I've got pissed off and bought those 3 packs to rocket my contributor value up. Help me and join In!

Hmm, I have the opposite problem. Steam always pauses downloads when a Steam game runs so I can't play a game meanwhile while downlaoding.

You cant Alt+Tab and restart the download if it does that.

I have this problem too! But it's only game updates and you can resume download after launching game. This was more insidious Steam self-update :(

Yeah steam needs to a force download option, sometimes it will pause all my downloads even if i'm not doing anything.

And there should be a way to disable updates while playing yes :\
Steam consumes too many resources, not only network ones, when updating.
