Saints Row 3, Final Fantasy XIII, Alpha Protocol, Dead Island, Diablo 3, Mass Effect 3, tons more most likely.

Fire Emblem 8 (The Sacred Stones). Sure, you can cheat and level grind, and the overall plot may be a little cliched, but I found most of the characters more memorable than the characters of 6 and 7.
Also on the topic of Fire Emblem, Fire Emblem 10 (Radiant Dawn). All of the reviewers took a crap on it, but I think it's one of the strongest FE titles out there (I've played 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10) both gameplay-wise and story-wise. It's probably tied with Path of Radiance IMO.

I would have really liked this one were it not for the horrible glitches when you have to go through the main character's house later in the game... If you don't do things exactly in the right order, a bug prevents you from finishing the game.

Deus Ex: Invisible War. I really, really enjoyed that game. Yeah, yeah it was a "dumbed down version of the original" but I liked the visual themes, I liked the story and the quests, it wasn't too long or too short, I liked the soundtrack, I liked the augments, and there were enough weapon types and mods for me. It really did have enough of everything, to me it just seems like a case of people whining because it wasn't what they expected. Sometimes overcustomization can be a bad thing.

+1. Had it on Xbox back then and enjoyed it enough to play through it three times, which is something I usually don't do. Great atmosphere, great story, great gameplay. No idea why everyone hates it so much, probably a severe case of fanboyism. Real fans just have to hate sequels, no matter how good they are.

This! I had it on Xbox too. Played it through a couple of times and really couldn't fault it much.

I liked the story, felt it complemented the original well despite its flaws. We don't have a spoiler tag, do we? Oh well, I think I can work this... I felt it was a perfect counterpoint to the original, if you chose the canonical ending in the first one (obvious if you played both, but the canonical ending caused the other two after) and then in IW, you play the girl and choose the ending that features the Statue of Liberty. It's also my favorite ending (and the gender doesn't matter), but regardless of what you like, I think that balances against the original the best. For storytelling/writing purposes.

Yeah I think they thought a lot about how to pull off the story and I think they did it the best way they could. And yeah I have to agree about the endings. I played a girl in IW because...well, I am a girl and that's just what I do haha.

Heroes of Might and Magic 4
I loved every game in the series (didnΒ΄t play 6 yet) and enjoyed the fourth one just as much, while most fans where hating it.

If there weren't any other HoMM games I'd say HoMM 4 is a decent game. But it was simply a step backwards from HoMM 3 in almost every regard. Nothing was improved (apart from slightly better graphics), but many things were worse than in HoMM 3.

Loved it, the stories were very intersting.
I also like H6 very much.
And oddly enough, contrary to the majority, I hated H5
(Im playing the series since H2)

Rugrats - Search for Reptar on the PS1. It was a terrible game, but I love it for some reason.

Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs. I don't really know why people hate it, the soundtrack and the locations were sublime.

Duke Nukem Forever. I legitimately think it was a good game. I just defended it in another topic, but the basic argument is that its biggest fault is the trashy setting, but that you can't fault a game for its setting since you knew that when you started. It's like saying you don't like a Madden game because it's American Football, and you don't like American Football. Well, it logically follows that you won't like an American Football game, so you can't call a Madden game a bad game just because you don't like American Football. And your review is pretty much tainted anyway. (I don't particularly care for the sport, but I borrowed Madden '09 on the Xbox to see what the fuss was about. I couldn't do anything in that game. To me it was a complete waste of time. Played two games, same result.) So you play a game like Duke Nukem β Leisure Suit Larry is another one β and you gotta know what you got coming when you pick up that controller.
I'm also going to say Call of Duty, even though the OP said it didn't count. But I actually don't like Call of Duty. It's Black Ops, how instead of playing the advertised game, you can get up out of the chair and "break" the menu so to speak. I think that's cool as hell. Then you can play, not one, but two hidden games. I didn't care for the text one, but the twin stick shooter was awesome. Once I figured that out, I'd put Black Ops in (my wife was borrowing it β she plays, and enjoys Call of Duty games) and just do that. If anyone wants to try it, start the game, and either wiggle the analog sticks, or rapidly pull the triggers, to break out of the torture chair. Then walk around the room, find the arcade machine.

Good to know. I won't buy the game, unless it goes stupidly cheap, but if I won it (or bought it cheap) I'd probably just play that game. Maybe the single player. I figure online PC gaming has got to be easier to hack than Xbox, due to the easy access to the file system, and there's a ton of cheating on the Xbox as it is. And there's a lot of potential there. Black Ops, I mean, like Tom Clancy's books.

Nfs The Run.
Not a masterpiece, but neither the disaster that everybody talk about.

The combat sucks, most people have the same voice and look the same and you run around in the same places a lot.
But I still loved that game, because of it's charme and story ^^
