Large wave of Scammers and Fradulent Giveaways (misrepresenting the titles) and Completely Fake Giveaways. Regardless of where they "originate" from, this is stupid. Shut down registration and clean up again. I do my best to email inbox@steamgifts.com but it's simple to see a bannable offense/ rule violation on every page.

We should open only on a set date maybe a week every four months.

This sounds familiar to sites many of us may have already accessed. Nothing as strict as a 24 hour period of being open, because users would have to either know way in advance to save up points or have time to save. I like it.

the job needs to be done right, there are simply too many offences that could easily be picked off without much effort.

This makes sense -- also, it seems like it'd be easy to only allow those who've actually made and completed giveaways to invite others. Think about it: if someone doesn't contribute and then invites others who don't, we end up with a small amount of giveaways all of which have huge amouns of applicants...

Sounds like a good idea. How about generating invites by completing a giveaway successfully, instead of generating them with points?

I like this idea. Already the site is overrun with leeches. The odds of winning something have gone down like 300% in a month.

Interesting but what about 99 cent gifts?

I think this whole mess originated from the suggestion of "being responsible for your invites" being ignored. If CG were to lean on everyone being careful about whom they invite, we could have avoided most of this wave of unpleasantness. Sad that he choose to believe in the good of people and that they would act sensible, even after this has been suggested multiple times before..

Well with mass invite codes given out on random internet forums, that itself is not being careful about who they invited, and that was done by the mods :/

What if we were to limit the amount of entrants per giveaway? After 150 or 200 people entered the giveaway it would be closed.

not a bad idea. but then it dampers the effect of longer time limits, maybe the limit fluctuates depending on the time limit.

When a really kick-a game is given, many people will try for it ... kinda like a state lotto ... we know our odds are minuscule but it is fun to try to beat the odds. Perhaps have a default limit but a user-defined option? Or allow givers to set both time & # of entries?

BTW: Can someone explain to me why there are so many copies of Dirt3? I totally understand the Humble Bundles (and don't want to start that hot conversation!), but it is a $50 game ... did I miss a wicked sale?

@JazzLad it was given away for free as part of an AMD promotion.

Did the AMD promotion reopen? Because I tried it a few weeks ago and the website said that they ran out of codes, but there has been a resurgence of DiRT 3 giveaways over the past few days.

I've been wanting an option all along for the giver, when creating a giveaway to set the amount of entries it can have.
