Hey everyone!
Recently I entered in the horror world, and I want to know every possible horror game.

I'm currently playing Dead Space. After the first one of course I'm going to play the second!

I have in plan to play Amnesia right after Dead Space. Then I think I should play Silent Hill and Resident Evil.

Now tell me other games I should play. I want them to be reeeally scary.

Oh heck yeah. Biggest game scare in my life. Got this game for christmas as a kid. My family was asleep and it was 4am. I was in the factory... "Whats that sound?".. If you know the game, you know what happened next. Woke everyone up.

Great game. Regret trading it off for Secret of Evermore, considering how damn rare Snatcher is now.

Here's a little advice regarding Silent Hill's and Resident Evil's many titles. Since I don't know which consoles you own (or even if you do own one), I'll only limit myself to those that were released on PC or can be easily emulated on it:

  • Silent Hill is an awesome choice, you'll definetely poop your pants when visiting the school. Make sure you get to play the US version, though, since the scariest monster in the game got banned from the European version. You'll need a PSOne emulator to play this one, but it should perform flawlessly.
  • Silent Hill 2 features the deepest and greatest story in the series, but it unfortunately suffers from some annoying sound glitches.
  • Silent Hill 3 is tied with the events in the first one, so make sure you play that one first.
  • Silent Hill 4 may be considered the least enjoyable out of these four, but I'd say it's underrated as it's a great game indeed.
  • Silent Hill Homecoming should be avoided at all costs since it sucks.
  • Resident Evil is in my opinion the best survival horror experience there is, particularly if you get to play the Gamecube/Wii version, which adds interesting features and better graphics. If you play the original version, though, be warned that the dialogues will suck.
  • Resident Evil 2 improves the first game's gameplay and has a great story and ambience. You'll have to play it multiple times since it has two different scenarios for the two different characters.
  • Resident Evil 3 is my definetely favorite in the series. In this one, you'll be occasionally chased by an invincible monster and will also be forced to take certain decisions in a very short window of time.
  • Resident Evil 4 is not really a survival horror game, but it does feature some parts that involve horror to some extent. By the way, if I'm not mistaken, you'll need to apply a patch in order to be able to use the mouse to aim.
  • Resident Evil 5 is not a horror game at all, but it's a great game nevertheless, particularly if playing it in co-op.

Also, as a last word of advice, you should know that it might take a little time to get used to the controls in these games (excluding RE4 and RE5 since they use a different control scheme) since they are unique to this genre and you probably haven't had to use them before, but after some practice, you'll eventually get the hang of it. I would, however, recommend using a gamepad if you can, since they certainly feel more natural than a keyboard in this particular case.

Silent Hill 2 is the best horror game ever, IMHO. Followed by Silent Hill 1 PS1. and REMake Gamecube. Good list, just wrong order ;)

I had the misfortune of having Silent Hill 2's audio getting glitchy quite often, thus ruining the atmosphere, so I got mad and didn't complete the game at the time, which I haven't done since. I will eventually get back to it and complete it, though, since I loved its eerie atmosphere, the characters and having Pyramid Head lurking around.

By the way, I didn't really specify an order, but I can easily say the Silent Hill games have great horror elements with which they can top pretty much any Resident Evil except for REMake. I don't know what's up with that game, it creeps me out so much I couldn't bear to beat it yet. In any case, Silent Hill is a series that mostly places emphasis on psychological horror while Resident Evil is a little more action-oriented (particularly in the latest entries to the series).

Exactly my opinion of those games, KSI. The only difference is that I like RE2 more than RE3 :)

They're don't exist. I don't even know how I could put my ridicule into words. Are you saying that horror games are don't exist? I can assure you they are do exist. I've played a few of them, so I can confirm that they are do exist.
