I hope this will not affect the games... I have not yet finished playing Borderlands co-op and the only way to do it (legally) is to use GameSpy.

Hm, guess that would explain why while playing Borderlands yesterday I suddenly got a message that I lots connection to GameSpy... But since you guys are saying it won't affect the games, then not TOO much harm done... I guess. :/

Even pirated games could easily create an account and play online like they bought the game. Besides bl1 also brings me The disaster of game that was "The scourge project episode 1"

Never touched it since, I think, 2003. Thought they were closed years ago. No one from my friends or anybody else I knew never used it. I was pretty good for its time, but it was a long time ago. No tears, no regrets.

Only the editorial sites are shutting down - planetquake/cnc/unreal,etc and gamespy.com. The multiplayer service isn't going any where.

Glu Mobile bought GameSpy. Shut down servers and increased costs. Developers did not renew. GameSpy no longer profitable, gets shut down by Glu Mobile. Their games suck, so no surprises here.

Does that mean my Renegade Squadron on PSP can't play online anymore? :\

Well I'm kinda late posting here and sorry for the bump, but what will happen to games that need a GameSpy login to be able to play online?? Like Battlefront II (I reinstalled it today) or W40K Dawn of War. Does this mean I won't be able to play again?
