Street Fighter and Tekken movies were bad. I enjoyed fF:Spirits Within when I was young and it was released, even though I thought it had nothing to do with FF. Wasn't there a Silent Hill movie, or was that just speculated? The second RE movie is just two girls in skimpy outfits blowing up zombies, it's a pretty Hollywood-blockbuster-generic-man-boner movie. That's all I got off the top of my head. I almost always avoid movie games so I honestly can't say that way around. I do LOVE Lego: Star Wars, though.
Edit: I guess IMO the games suck more, at least in my previous experience; enough so that at some point I stopped playing them altogether. I might expect less from a movie, though.

Yeah, the new one was complete trash. My friends and I couldn't stop pointing out how bad everything was. I did however really like the first one.

Which games based on movies have you played? Because I've only ever played a rare few that were much good

I liked the 5th Element game. Awesome game based on a movie.
Besides, I haven't see a SINGLE good game-based movie . all of them are a piece of shit. (I'm looking directly at you, Resident Evil)

Uwe Boll. Need I say more?
Edit: I did like Rampage, a lot. Which is also one of his few non-game inspired movies. Coincidence?

Are you referring to the "Street Fighter" movie with Van Damme that was then turned into that arcade game that was like a less cool MK? Because that was bad.

My head figuratively exploded the first time I saw the Street Fight the Movie Arcade Game. My young mind was not prepared for the horrors.

It really depends on what you consider a movie. Forward Unto Dawn was well done, they didn't really have to deal with canon. Company of Heroes isn't bad either. I find what ruins game movies is taking a story that's already established to fans and changing it while trying to keep it the same as well. If Resident Evil never introduced any characters we already know and love, it would have worked. Ditto for Silent Hill.

There hasn't been a single truly good movie made from a video game.So yeah I think movies definitely has the worse ordeal.

I guess you also like the 'gems' that are the Fast and Furious movies then?

A game based on a movie which is based on a game. How about them apples?

From my understanding the riddick games were extremely good. I never played them myself, yet. The silent hill films were pretty crap imo. The resi evil films started great, I loved the first, but they did go downhill after that. Most films based on games seem to just share the name mostly and the rest has nothing to do with it. I also agree with tdc, I enjoyed FF: SW when it released, it was a great step in showing how good cgi could be, for a film released in 2001 it looked amazing. Just a shame it was recieved so poorly .

I am not so sure. Games based on movies are normaly cheap and movies based on games they just destroy the plot.

And movies based on games i enjoyed : Resident Evil series, Doom, Silent Hill and Max payne.
I am okay with the whole licensed video games thing, but theres alot of them i did not like.

Games based on movies by a lot.
Personally I feel when they make games intomovies they come out pretty alright, sure you got the really hardcore fans bitching about tiny details or how this and this happened in the game and not in the movie but in general movies like Silent Hill, Resident Evil, and whatever else seem pretty alright.
I would like a Mass Effect movie, I always wanted to see a Devil May Cry one also....

If Wikipedia is to be believed then they apparently are making a Devil May Cry movie, though it also says that it'll be based on DmC rather than DMC so I most definitely wouldn't hold my breath on it being any good...
Eh, there is always the anime. :)

Didn't care for the Anime much, thats cool though, I can see why the new one would be used, its more story oriented from what I gather.

Yes, those did go in another direction, but they did not hide the fact and I liked them all to be honest.
Probably a bad example.

Movies to games... Almost no good. The opposite, yeah.

I'm not a big fan of this type of movies or games, but what do you think? Are the movies based on games worse or is it other way around?
Mass effect movie under primary development process BTW. I genuinely hope this doesn't get screwed up. :|
