Well ATubeCatcher, Game booster, FRAPS, also Live Stream Pro caster have screen recording options you can chose between these software, depending on your PC performance. FRAPS is awesome, and you can covert after record the .AVI output default to a WMV.
Check my Youtube Video recorded with FRAPS AVI File 55mb WMV File 6mb Video I use ATubeCatcher to convert the video format.

I wonder, noone said DXTory? Thats a real nice tool for recording. The best is that you can record with 25-30-100 Frames(what you want or your pc can handle :P) and in the same time you can play with, lets say, 60fps...
You can play smoothly and in the background dxtory records that shit without interrupting...use fraps and you see what i mean...you are limited to 30fps(when you want to record with 60 then not) and you must play with this fps...and when the frames drops you get laggs in the video, same can happen with dxtory but you have way more FPS to compensate...
Lets say you playing Battlefield 3 with nearly 60fps, you record with 30fps...when a big explosion comes up your frames can drop to...40-50..but the record is stable at 30fps...with fraps you are limited and every framedrop can cause a lag in the movie...
DX Tory is not free, thats the bad part...but when you have friends you get it...or when you have enough money...one way or the other, your choose...
