Hi,

I've bought one of the current indiegala Kindle. Also one as a gift for a friend of mine.
But he say to me that his key for “TRINE“ does not work.

So i contacted the Support of steam and they say indiegala is not a legitimate selber.
They say i should contact them to get my money back.

"I've bought one of the current indiegala Kindle"

Has your Autocorrect been on the mushrooms?

Hate to say it, but that's what you get for buying cheap games from shady key sites...

:P

Not sure if sarcasm but I wouldn't consider IndieGala shady key seller.

If the dial on your sarcasm detector is reading anything other than '11', please contact the vendor for a refund.

An emergency replacement for your sarcasm detector is being sent immediately by one of our currently available field agents. If you have any cats in the household you may want to ensure that they are secured before his arrival or else we will not be able to ensure the safety of our agent or your replacement, either case of which would cause a significant increase in your insurance rates.

Steam has no control over 3rd party sellers. Contact indie gala about it.

Steam wouldn't know, the publishers/devs would. They are who you would ask.

I would contact Indie Gala support about that key. support@indiegala.com

Edit: By the way, if the key is saying "Invalid key", I suggest your buddy restarts Steam/his computer/whatever. That occasionally happens to me when I try to activate keys. Is the error is "Duplicate key", then contact Indie Gala support.

In a certain country, a selber would rip anything that moves in on it's territory into shreds saving the small pieces for it's cubs. As gory as it sounds it's actually not real.

There are a number of things that could make the key report as invalid:

  • Not typed/copied correctly (make sure all the characters are there)
  • If copy/pasted there could be a space in front or after the key, make sure there are none
  • If you've tried other invalid keys before that one, you might have been locked out by Steam. Wait an hour and try again. (Might do some good to restart Steam too)

If you're sure you're not locked out and the key is entered properly and it still don't work, contact Indiegala support with this.

I have bought many gala's, bundles, and games from them. All have worked and they say if you got an issue with a key to email them. Steam has nothing to do with game sales outside of steam. They would of gave you the same answer even if it was amazon.com you bought your key from.

not to mention that contacting steam meant a 3-4 day wait, when the gala folks get back to you much quicker. And will likely just give you another key.

I like that the immediate thought when a key doesn't work isn't user error, it is that the entire site is illegal. Funny :)

I think the "illegal" part came from the answer being that they are not a legitimate seller.

make sure that you retype the key exactly. Sometimes a copy/paste from the gala site will bring over an extra space or other character.

just email indiegala. I think it will replace your key with new one.
I think indiegala should be legit and authorized by the game makers.
The reason why steam told you indiegala is not legit in my opinion is that whatever steam officially replies you, you can record the reply as an evidence even in the future.
So, steam could say indiegala is legal to you, but, it has to contact both indiegala and the game maker to make sure every game on indiegala is authorized buy game makers.
It should be a long time work to make sure that. So steam won't do that check for you. To get rid of any / potential responsibilities dealing with 3rd party sellers, the easiest and best way is stating that those 3rd party sellers are not legit or authorized by steam.

Edit: Bookata could be right, that happens sometimes.

Bought dozens of keys from Indiegala, never had a problem with a single one. High chance of user error, small chance of invalid key.

Gala is alright, I got Magicka from them and it worked fine. Maybe some mistake in entering the key like space at the start or end?

I've had a couple of orders from Indie Gala get screwed up, including one where they gave me an invalid key. The good news is that, in both cases, I contacted support and got replies within an hour or so and they completely fixed the problem. I'd try to deal with their support before Steam.
