Bundles in any form are up to the person holding the giveaway. Sometimes they will let you enter no matter how much of it you have so long as you are missing part of it, and others won't let you enter if you own even a single item from it. If it doesn't tell you that you can't in the giveaway description, then you should be fine.

Owning part of a bundle isn't considered a special rule. It is one of the standard reasons for requesting a reroll. I checked with Rinarin.

Should be fine..
My win was rerolled when I only owned a single game and no DLC out of a collection that contained 3 games and DLC. The creator never stated anything in the description regarding any restrictions on entering yet Support still granted the reroll. My suggestion is to ask the giveaway creator directly.

Yep, sadly this is why I most want a PM system on the site, so that when we have questions about a giveaway that only the creator can answer, we can contact them directly. Most people don't bother to read the comments on their giveaways, and having to add them as a friend and msg them on Steam seems a bit intrusive.

I'm sorry that that happened to you. Any and all special rules regardless of giveaway type should be stated in the description if they are expected to be known and honored. I find it strange that the re-roll would occur even if there wasn't anything stating you could not enter. If support is indeed honoring what is not written though, perhaps it should be suggested that extra rules be plainly visible or they will not matter. I would support such a thing since like I pointed out it seems to vary from user to user and enforcing rules should not be a grey area.

That's the thing. Rerolling because the winner owns part of a bundle is not considered a special rule and so does not need to be stated or approved by support prior to creating the giveaway. It's at the creator's discretion whether or not the giveaway should be rerolled. After that experience, I simply don't enter a giveaway for a collection/pack/bundle unless the creator says exactly what is okay and what isn't.

The fact that it us up to the creator whether or not they publicly state it makes it unfair to the average person entering it though, don't you think? Whether you win and a reroll is made or you lose but never had a chance anyway, those are points you could have spent on a giveaway you were actually eligible for. Any time the creator has a choice about something, entrants have a right to know what choice was made. That's just my two cents on it anyway.

That's a dick move on behalf of the creator. If I don't put a restriction on how much of a collection the entrant owns, I don't enforce one unless it's "I own the base game and all DLC except one". If it's that bad, I'll just buy you the damn DLC and get a reroll, >.>

yeah, the primary condition is that you install the games that you win on the site

Yeah, you're required to activate and nothing else.
Like, you could win 20 games and never play them and it'd be perfectly legit
My friend had a Skyrim giveaway and the guy that won it never played it.

I have wondered about this myself. I got Counter-Strike years ago when I entered my key for HL1 into Steam. I tried to get the CS Complete package here the other day and asked the same question and I was told then to contact the gifter. The person never replied and I was afraid of violating some unwritten rule if I bid on it so I retracted my entry. I wish that a rule on this issue be made so people won't get so many conflicting answers.

Rules like how much of the bundle the winner is allowed to own is set by the owner of the giveaway, as said by others here. Generally, if no such condition is specified, you can assume it is open to all, though the owner of the giveaway is still allowed to reroll the win if he thinks you own too much of it. Personally I rarely enter bundles at all, but in most cases owning more than 1/4 of the bundle and joining feels like a dick move to me.
That being said, it's nice to see people who are considerate about what they enter. Kudos!

I think its if you own it on Steam, not a hard copy. I wouldn't enter into a game just for the DLC, unless the giver specifically mentions that you can. I personally wouldn't enter into a game I own a hard copy of, but I don't think there is anything wrong to do so.

I was wondering about the site rules... I know we can't enter giveaways fo games we have, but I was wondering if we are allowed to for bundle games we want the dlc for.
Example: I bough Crysis 2 on disc, and I found a Crysis 2 maximum edition giveaway. Am I allowed to enter it so i can have a steam copy of the game and the bonus dlc?
