Hello SG people (also cats, aliens, monsters - you know who you are!)

So a few hours ago I realized I just hit 1 whole year of using this cool site! Yay for me!

It's rare for me to persistently go back to one, somewhat social site, and it's not just because I'm getting free games.
We got such a diverse community here. A lot of creative, awesome, nice and rude (I like both types! Free speech bitches!) individuals.
Before I started using SG I've never tried to create online friendships. I never spent any money on digital friends to make them happy.
SG changed all of that.
I'm getting mad, happy, sad, excited, inspired and everything in the emotion spectrum from being here. Mostly reading though :)
So thanks everyone, I mean it! :D

Well now, let's get this going:
In celebration of this occasion I've picked 3 games that are constantly on users wishlists.

  • Choose the one you want most and I'll create a private giveaway and share it in this thread.
  • There will be no level or other restrictions, but using SGtools I'll cap it to 250 entries.

Countdown to the start of the giveaway!

Also, my super special group (Secret Sauce) will get the 2 other games.

Instead of thanking me or just bumping the thread - tell me the 3 best TV series and 3 best movies for 2015! Extra points if you can explain why! (like a mini-review) for at least one of them.

I'll pick 25 users here to invite to Secret Sauce based on their recommendations so they'll be able to enter the 2 other giveaways (and future ones)!

Edit: My fault for not being clear enough - I meant top 3 movies/series of 2015, not those you catch up with 10 years later :) Sorry!

I'll still consider those who invested time and thought into their comments.

The winning game by popular vote:

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Good luck everyone!

TV shows: Daredevil, Mr. Robot... and I didn't want to include any older shows but Gravity Falls just ended a week ago so everyone should definitely watch it! Gravity Falls!!!

TV in 2015 was just seasons of previous year's shows. I don't think I saw any new TV that interested me. Due to the new X-Files, I have the urge to rewatch all the previous seasons (again).

Movies in 2015:
-The Martian
-Interstellar
-Terminator

TV:

  1. Fear The Walking Dead
I'm quite surprised it hasn't been named here yet. Then again I know a lot of people expected it to be more like The Walking Dead and were disappointed when it wasn't. I loved it though, how it introduced a new set of characters that I found so immediately likeable and doesn't mainly focus on one person's journey (like Rick in TWD), but these people as a family at the start of what will be the total breakdown of civilisation. It's a slow burn, but I personally really like that.
  2. Supergirl
This is my number one feel-good show at the moment. I've never been very into Superman, Supergirl or any of the DC heroes, to be honest, but this show is just so delightful. It's nice to have a superhero show that doesn't try to be as dark and gritty as possible, like so many others do these days.
  3. IZombie
This is a comic adaptation. I was a huge fan of Veronica Mars back in the day and this show is from the same creator and has a similar feel to it, which I love. It's a very different take on the "zombie genre" and is kind of a mix of drama, comedy and crime with a lot of substance to it.

Honourable mentions:

  • Justified ended last year - the quality of this show, the writing in particular, continously blew me away. The only other show that reached this level of quality is Breaking Bad, in my opinion
  • Jessica Jones was amazing but has been named enough here already :)
  • The Leftovers didn't start in 2015, but it's one of the best shows on TV at the moment

Movies:

  1. Fifty Shades of Grey
    ...just kidding
  2. The Martian
Loved the book, loved the audiobook, loved the movie. It's one of the best book adaptations I've ever seen. I particularly love that they didn't try to cram some kind of romance plot into the film like they do with most hollywood movies.
  3. Mad Max Fury Road
I haven't seen a movie that left this big of an impression on me in years! Just mindblowing and visually stunning.
  4. Whiplash
Intense and haunting with incredible performances by the whole cast. This is also a movie everyone should see.

I laughed at the mentioning of Fifty shades of Grey (and barfed a little).
I never got into the zombie craze, the Zeitgeist if you will ;), of our generation (excluding Shawn of the Dead which is wonderful). They're the most boring adversaries we have ever created. And yeah, I'm aware that in some of those series/movies they're just a backdrop to a more complex characters development or plot, but they're still there and it's hard to ignore this overused gimmick. Maybe someday I'll give TWD another chance (watched 1 ep. and stopped).
Anyway, good mini-reviews. I recommend Whiplash too, can't agree more.

tee hee, I like bumps with a purpose!
movie and TV Shows? hm? one that starts in 2015?

Movie:
1) The Martian hands down for having everything. Plus he perfect mixture of thinking and casual watching is always hard to come by ♥
2) Sicario: For an unexpected gem. Well, maybe that's not really accurate.. I just didn't read up on the movie before watching it.
3) The Man from U.N.C.L.E.: Argh it was hard to pick between this and The Intern for different reasons but points for comedy and frustration at every turn XD

TV Show:
1) Code Black: I want to say hands down again but maybe I I'm just biased with my favorites :p
2) Mr Robot: Cause it's different but I wasn't really "entertained" watching it
3) Agent Carter: For pretty much the same reasons as The Man from U.N.C.L.E. :p

thanks for the GA and happy cake day~ ♥

Movies (the 3 are action movies so you dont get bored :) or I can suggets romance movies xD )
1 - Kingsman: The Secret Service (I like this movie a lot it has action and its funny and classy)
2- Mad Max (because in this movie they have their own personal band following them in the fight and you must see the scene with the guitar on fire and because its awesome)
3 - John Wick (because if someone kills your dog you obviously seek reenge and have to kill them all)

tv shows
1- Daredevil (because who doesnt like super heroes)
2 - Jessica Jones (same reason as above)
3 - Limitless (if you have seen the movie and like it I recommend this show or if you havent seen the movie i still recommended no matter what i recommended)

TV shows, not new to 2015, but ran in 2015.

The Leftovers for its strangeness. It's different from other shows I've seen.
The Walking Dead - because... Zombies
Supernatural - the characters, story-line and how it's managed to stay entertaining through 11 seasons.

-my favorite show new to 2015 is Limitless. It took me awhile to get into. I'm liking it now.

Movies..
Mad Max - I didn't have high hopes for Mad Max and thought it would be a disaster compared to the original but it was decent and... Charlize Theron
The Martian - I thought this would be painfully dull, how much could there be to do on Mars? It was entertaining and had some funny moments.
Project Almanac - K, maybe not the best movie about time travel ever ... but I liked it. (I also thought of Time Lapse, but Time Lapse was 2014) Made me think of all the stupid things my friends and I would do if we had a time travel device.

I thought I haven't seen any movie from 2015 but then I remembered I was twice at the cinema, so I have seen something. xD
(I usually wait 'till I can see them on HBO but that takes a year or so.)

  1. Jurassic world - because dinos! The main kid had cute hair and the main girl was badass when she runned in high heels. And it wasn't as bad as I thought.
  2. Inside out - that was deep.
  3. The Fast and the Furious 7 (I guess because those films have different name each title) - The scene when they jumped across two buildings was pretty neat. It was nicely done.
    (4. The last Hunger Games - this wasn't actually that good but I still want to say something - when I saw the first part I thought it had a lot of scenes straight from Wolfenstein and other games. It really looked game-ly. So I was excited for the next part, to know what games it might remind me of and there wasn't as many scenes like this as it were in the first part and I was sad. But it looked like Metro 2033 and that's my favourite book-to-game, so I like HG too.)

Bump!

Don't really watch TV series, but the best movies I saw in 2015 were:

The Intern - A fresh air of comedy and down-to-earth topics by Rob deNiro. Really classy, not that US Pie kind of BS.

Inside Out - Same, a fresh take on the all-kid-target dominated animations, good for every age, no just 5-12yr.

First of all thank you for the amazing giveaway! Hmm I'll try with that list although for series it's always a bit hard for me :/

Series:

  1. Scream Queens - I never watch horror movies or series but for some reason I loved AHS (of course some seasons had a better story, I think the first one is still the best for me) and I was very interested in Scream Queens because it looked fun and entertaining. More comedy than horror in this series was really perfect and made a good balance!
  2. Fear the Walking Dead - well...from someone who didn't watch The Walking Dead I thought this was well done and kept me interested. I'll definitely have to watch TWD as well (not sure when) :/
  3. The Blacklist - I'm cheating a bit I guess? I really didn't watch any new series from 2015 and this season is still great for me because of James Spader and his character Raymond 'Red' Reddington.

Movies:

  1. The Hateful Eight - the easiest choice! Amazing actors, interesting setting . Definitely not a classic western and I loved the murder mystery.
  2. Mad Max: Fury Road - Second easiest choice? Simple plot but visually amazing, hell of a ride and I loved the addition of a strong woman character.
  3. The Man from U.N.C.L.E.- a spy comedy with an interesting setting, really enjoyable!

I haven't watched anything during 2015 besides Big Hero 6 and Night at the Museum 3, and I must say both were worth my time (almost cried at Robin Williams' last scene at NatM3 ._.) -- as for TV series, I only watch soccer at TV :p

Now for the main event, here's my bump :D

Happy cakeday bro, hope you're doing well.
