Yeah makes more and more sense nowadays due to the information leaks and other spyings. It's a bit sad that we pay with our data for using a social platform.

Neither Youtube nor WhatsApp, also no discord, twitch or snapchat.
And though I personally wouldn't count Steam and SG as social media, I'll concede those two.
But aside from Steam my only "game" account is for GOG... and not their Galaxy launcher. I just buy, download and play GOG games offline.

Thanks! 😄 I reached 20k (after the server wipe) just over a week ago and I think that was the last one I'll enter. I have a huge backlog anyway and 20k seems like a good number to call it a day 😎

Well, if you count my entries before the server wipe I should be at 40k and something if I remember correctly.
It just occured to me earlier that I could also do 20 more and then always keep the current year as number of gibs entered but I think I'll keep it at a nice, even 20k.
Please don't take this the wrong way because you seem like a nice guy but I'm not often on Steam anymore these days and when I am it's usually to play SP games. And while I still have quite a few of my old giveaway winners on my friendslist because so far I was too lazy to go through my list and do a purge I try to keep it somewhat close so I can remember who is who.
Also when I feel chatty I usually do it here and not on Steam so I'll have to decline.

I note that you omit reliable news media as a source of information. I often see news stories first on social media, but then I go and look into them. Fact checking is not that hard in most cases.

filled one out, but I'm not big on social media fyi
bump!

You might wanna give a little more information as to what institution this is for. "National University of Public Service" on it's own sounds a little sketchy unless you google it tbh. Maybe set a link to it and the department the study is for. That been said; good luck with your research!

National University of Public Service (Hungary) - www.uni-nke.hu
The affiliation is Millitary Science, but I work independently as a doctoral student

None of the options for 4) really suits my case of following our top scientists on Twitter and their podcasts. I chose "Government's official social media page", because they are part of the government's advisors.
"Influencer" was generally an annoying and limiting option. I don't follow any influencers, but many specialists and experts on different matters.

Oh yes that makes sense, we did not think of this scenario. Thank you!

Lots of researchers do like 5-6 pages long surveys. And they tend to push others to do the same to gather a wide scope of information. But the reality is. People hate survey. And if you spend 10 minutes already, and not even half of it is finished, the red X button gets closer and closer.

Can't relate to the questions about influencers as I have never followed any of those. Also you have listed elementary and high school but not middle school in the list.
The 4th still needs an 'other' or 'none of above' answer. Already finished a few surveys for The National Public Health Center in the past and they are usually describing a situation in the survey and asking how accurate it is on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 to 5 or 0 to 5.
If this question had an option to scale the listed items like that, we could have given more accurate answers.

Bump!
I never used twitter/instagram/snapchat/whatever and I deleted my facebook years ago, I feel like all those social media are the biggest waste of time ever. I pity people who can't live without it.
I only use youtube and it is more than enough for me.

I understand this survey is intended for users of social media (which I am not), but you might have phrased it a bit differently to get some information from everyone else as well. Especially question #4 where you have "government website" but leave out the most obvious choice "independent news website" or could have included "other". Having said that, thanks for the giveaway and success with your survey.

Thank you guys for the feedback in the comments and in the survey. Amazingly helpful :)

Hey hi guys,
first of first here's a Tropico 5 complete collection giveaway: https://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/adlxL/tropico-5-complete-collection
I want to do a research about the social media's impact from the users perspective regarding covid-19 and the spread of false/misinformation. We would like to come up with solutions on how a government or an official actor should spread information on social media by alternative ways. But at first we would like to understand the users' view, so if you could help us out by filling out this short survey we would be really grateful.
The survey can be accessed here: https://forms.gle/JzTqZXLDezqPPEzQ8
I'm not a native speaker so there are spelling and phrasing problems, I do apologise in advance for that.
Bit of information of what we are trying to do:
We saw the impact of social media during the pandemic. It's also seems to be clear that it is now the primary news source of people. But the problem is, it is not being double-checked or backed up with any proof. Anyone can post anything, come up with claims, legends and it can spread quickly. Unfortunately what we have seen and learnt that banning social media pages/groups/people who spread misinformation is not a solituon. They are usually back in a day and they continue what they did before for a period of time. What we try to do is, find soltuions on how official trusted actors can quickly spread information to the users by some alternative means. But first in order to do this first we need to have a general view from the users' perspective and thats what this survey can help us.
By filling this out (and sometimes bumping this thread) would be a great and amazing help for us.
Thanks guys :)
