If you're using it on your microwave maybe, but It never crashed for me... it's more stable than Win7 and runs much more smoother

Win 7, Win8, Linux and Mac OS: Have seen crashes on all of these OSs. But all of them (for Linux at least the bigger distributions), shouldn't crash very often in daily use. If crashes come over again and again, I guess, not the OS is the fault. Either it's a hardware-/driver-issue or the issue sits in front of the monitor.

Been using it since launch. Also been playing CS:Go for months. never had a single issue.

lol! I've been using Windows 8 since the Consumer Preview came out and I've never had any problems with it. Right now I'm using 8.1 and no issues at all. Just make sure your installation has been made properly, keep it updated, keep your drivers updated and it will work smooth with no problems at all.

Reporting in on the "it's you, not W8" bandwagon.

Windows 8 isn't good in my opinion but your argument is unfortunately invalid.

Try to get Win7 in a legal way. It's much cheaper. The only reason for Gamers for Win8 would be DirectX 11.2 if there was a compatible graphics-card in your PC. Win7 is rockstable since ServicePack 1 and will be supported with security-fixes until 2020. Then you can maybe switch to another OS.
If you got a real gaming machine and you want every new graphic-effect, then, maybe, Win8 could make sense for you... Otherwise, stick with Win7.

Also Win8 is 20% faster when playing BF4, may be faster on every game but I don't know :)

I'm using the Windows 8.1. It's incredible faster, nicer and my games are working very well.
I have more FPS on AC4 with Windows 8.1 than my old Windows 7.
The metro it's quite inconfortable, buy i'm accommodate with this new think. In rest...it's all Windows 7, but much stylish and elegand + it's much good optimized.
I just love that it boot in ~10 seconds on SSD.

i say stick to windows 7, i don't have that many games on steam (around 150) and at least 20 (most of them are indie games or older games from 2009 and before) just don't work on my windows 8 pc.

Then something is wrong with your pc. I've got 300-ish games, and many, many more games out of steam, and I never had even a single problem.

I'm pretty sure that's the other way around, i.e. some driver had issues with Windows 8.

I'm currently running windows 8.1 on my three machines. Perfectly fine.
When windows 8 first came out there was a way to get it for free. As the keys microsoft gave out validated the whole thing.

I say: Fix your Win 7 and never download Win 8.
Windows 8 is still quite retarded imo.

The cheapest you can get is probably off a student with an access to DreamSpark. For example, with my access I can get Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7 64-bit and Windows 7 32-bit for free. Admittedly I'm not sure whether they're Home, Professional, or what. If you know people studying in universities, it might be worth asking them about it.
Certain other third parties also get licenses for very cheap and sometimes sell them for $20-50.

There is no reason to move to windows 8/8.1. There is virtually nothing 8 can do that 7 can't. Only thing is DX11.2 and thats only if you have a video card that can support it and even then it would also require games that support 11.2.
Windows 8.1 is a tablet/phone OS pushed onto a desktop. Like windows 7 did for vista/XP, windows 8/8.1 removed/changed stuff from the OS that people found handy without actually asking the people if they wanted it removed.
I wouldn't have even bothered to go to windows 7 had I not gotten a ram upgrade that pushed me over 4 gigs of ram. XP 32bit does everything I need and is just as stable. (least for me even after I tweaked the heck out of both), 64bit was not as good cause there lacked good 64bit drivers for the hardware. Vista is just crap, 7 is better then vista but not better then XP (due to stuff they removed/changed that I found handy and used all the time in XP).
If you are a student go buy windows 7 64bit from a school for very cheap. I would suggest the professional version over home as I believe it has some features home doesn't have though not sure if you would use them or not.

Geez, naysayers ahoy! :D UGH CHANGE BAD! CANNOT COPE! But if you're looking for "cheap" keys then scour the Internet for student keys. Works just as fine as normal keys and they're legit (i.e. not pirated). There's prolly dozens of them on reddit or your favorite trading site. :)

Change is sometimes good, but change just for the sake of change is not always good. Windows 8/8.1 was a change that did not need to happen, not for the desktop. But Microsoft wanted everyone on their new OS and wanted people to buy their stuff that had the OS on it. They wanted people to go from a phone to tablet to desktop and have it all with the same OS so no learning curve. Even the xbone has a version of windows 8 on it.
And like they tried with vista (and failed), they tried an incentive of forcing the latest version of DirectX on the new windows. This is not the way to get people to come to a new OS. The way to do it, is to add stuff that makes the OS itself easier to use, more secure and more stable. There is no reason why DX11.2 should be windows 8 only. There are features new to DX11.2 but have been around for a long time.

It's funny how Microsoft did exactly made easier to use, more secure and more stable OS. Yet the only thing you see is latest DirectX.

No what I see is a tablet OS on a desktop. It was designed to make using a touch screen easier and for them to sell lots of little apps to nickle and dime people.
But I also see them trying to get people to upgrade to it by forcing the next version DX to only be in that OS when there is 0 need for it to be.
The stupid metro interface makes each icon super sized. Something I and many others don't need, which is why there was a big backlash against it and then MS tried to "make it better". People can boot directly into the desktop, but if they use the windows key where you would think you could have a whole bunch of links to all your programs, it takes you to metro which still ticks off a bunch of people. Heck they even stopped calling it metro because it was so hated.
Generally for people with lots of computer experience windows 8 might be easy to learn, but for others its not.
Also MS generally got things wrong with how fast it would be accepted. It has been really low.
Article talking about why Windows 8 is not popular from Feb 2013
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2415245,00.asp
Another one from Dec 1 2013 talking about windows 8 still very low market share and how windows 7 has gained more market share.
http://techcrunch.com/2013/12/01/windows-7-handily-bests-windows-8-and-8-1s-minute-market-share-gains-in-november/
Again they tried to put a tablet OS into the desktop and laptops. A place a tablet OS should not be because it is not needed or generally wanted.
It also doesn't help that most other tablets and phones that run an OS other then windows, are cheaper and run better then the windows OS versions.

There you go again. Nitpicking a single feature without looking at the OS as a whole. You don't care about integrated Windows Defender, Family Safety, Secure Boot, new kernel version, new authentication system, hybrid boot, etc. All you care about is interface you've not even given yourself troubles to see functionality of.

I remember when Windows 8 just had been released and no one liked it so it was pretty cheap.. Windows 8 x64 pro version was like $40 in my country lol but now the price went up to $200-300. lol

I love windows 8 lol. Much faster than Windows 7 and feels a lot smoother, even on a desktop. Most games run the same or better, but there are a couple games with issues such as BF3 (If you play BF3 on a Win8 pc with an ATI card it has a memory leak) but those are fixable. I got it for $30
