Hi there,

I have been wondering if Deus Ex Mankind Divided would run on my system smoothly, since I do not own the latest High-End hardware... So I figured, maybe I could make at least some use of Deus Ex The Breach and use it as kind of a perfomance demo. Do you have any experience with that, is the performance of these two games comparable? That way I can check if DEMK would run on my rig without actually buying it in the first place.

If that does not work out, I guess I'll be spending my Steam Wallet on The Turing Test, as I really enjoyed The Talos Principle:)

Thanks in advance for your help, guys and girls:)

If I can run The Breach smoothly, will that apply to Mankind Divided as well?

IDK!

Buy it, try it, if it doesn't run perfectly, refund it.

I'd say this is more of a last resort option. I am a great fan of the refund feature Steam introduced, as it is a huge step towards a better customer service. This is exactly why I try to avoid it while possible, I want it to be there when I truly need it, and not use it on a simple occasion that I could have handled in a different way like this here. Though I really appreciate you suggestion, thanks a lot:)

i didn't install mankind divided yet (i don't have 70gb ._.) so i can't tell you how it runs. but i suppose the breach won't be as demanding as the full game since maps should be smaller and it uses simpler textures/assets. ┐(´ー`)┌

They repackaged the installation so it only takes up 42 GB now (base game only, I don't have the season pass).

sucks in which way? boring story/repetitive game play? or rather puzzles too easy? the latter one would not be my definition of sucking though...

Breach's requirement is nothing compared to the main game

there are other ways of demoing it if you seriously want to buy it but can't test it beforehand

Not my cup of tea, but I don't judge ppl for it. They can have a lot of reasons, some of them understandable for me. Thanks for the suggestion though!

These are just some quick observed numbers to give you an idea of the relative performance difference:

  • Main game: 43-60 FPS
  • Breach: 60-80 FPS

(i7 4790K, 16GB RAM, AMD R9 290 4GB, DirectX 12, high to ultra settings at 2560 x 1440)

Breach has far smaller environments, less textures, less NPCs, less of... well, everything, so it's not surprising that it is significantly less demanding.

EDIT: Who's actually voting 'yes' here? Explanation please?
