Since I started doing these giveaways I've noticed that roughly about 1 out of 10 people who have won a game actually bother to say thanks. There are lots of people who enter that show some gratitude for a chance to win by posting a nice comment, which I think is really nice. My question is, do the numbers who actually thank you for the game go up when you add a contribution requirement to the giveaway? I don't like the idea of adding a contribution requirement, but at the same time it just seems appropriate for people to take the time to say thanks. I never expected everybody to say thanks, but just a greater percentage than what I've seen. Anyway, was just curious about the thoughts of others on this topic. I appreciate any feedback that is given.

The guy who won one of my recent giveaways didn't even bother to say a damn thing.

And when I gave away some HIB keys some time back the winners didn't even bother to reply.

My thoughts?

Don't let it bother or discourage you. Some people are just born assholes, some have poor social skills and bad manners, some thinks this is the internet and anything goes.

People like that are few and far between in SG. It's just the handful of bad apples.

First of all thank you for all the great giveaways you make and for your generosity. I'm sorry you had to deal with rude and ungrateful people.

I always thank the creators of giveaways I win, simply because I enter giveaways for games that I really would like to play and if I win I'm really thankful!
I don't know if they actually got my replies and cared about them (since I got no feedback) but I don't care, I just feel like doing it.

Luckily all the winners of my giveaways so far have always thanked me, some in a more enthusiastic way that others but still showing a bit of politeness and gratitude.

The problem with your winners not showing any gratitude could be either they didn't really care about the game, or they are just rude people. So probably adding higher CV requirement can increase the chance that the winner will be thankful but rude people and people that want to win just for the sake of winning are still there sadly.

Well, I try to say thanks as nuch as possible. Doesn't always happen because I might be in a hurry, however. And yes, my entries/comments is a big difference, mainly because I was someone who lurked. But now I'm not.

As for comments in general; I put comment questions on my giveaways because I like to get the entrants to be interactive. For example, this is a giveaway of mine that recently ended. Roughly 20% of the entrants commented, which, I think, is pretty good, compared to the 5~10% that usually happens.

I never "thank" on giveaway comments, since most of the thanks seem like no less than comment-padding spam. When I win, however, I make sure to thank the giver directly, be in through an e-mail reply or directly on Steam.

I never really want to become the person that throws in a thank you whenever they enter a giveaway just to have some weight off their chest. For giveaways that require some contrib. I tend to be more thankful, since they give people whom are not only interested in taking but also giving, a greater chance to win.
