Like it a lot. However, i've always thought the game images should be on the left -- better for scanning. Maybe that's just me though.

Have and Want fields should have more characters(preferably - no limit at all), so you can put full list of games you want to trade. This way the search will be more precise, and whole trades more convenient.

At this point, they might as well use the code from the Create A Giveaway page, although that would be limited to Steam games.

Looks good, although some of the text is hard to read - black on dark gradient grey? For the header? Also, some of the text is a little bit small.
Comment has been collapsed.
After a bit more use, I'd like to say that it needs more delineation, or at least some regions of shading. Having the entire page be this kind of light grey with everything plopped on top without any boxes or regions is really confusing and kind of hard to read. Some areas should be shaded darker or have tones of color, especially the sidebar or the giveaway area compared to controls or something.

As far I can tell, the font is not only too small, it's also kind of gray...ish. And the header, header is just awful to read.

LOL.. You created a Bad Rats giveaway :x
Feedback:
The SteamGifts icon is too small, I like it better as it is now because it is easier to return to the main page this way.

Whitelists! Blacklists! Wishlists! I am so loving the list of lists the new site is handling. Seems very peppy too. Really fantastic work cq and the whole steamgifts team! "Hide giveaways for DLC if you're missing the base game?" Is my new favorite setting.
Totally not your responsibility I know, but do you have an idea if this will break Denhox's steamgifts app?

Figured so. Thanks for the reply!
With all the new stuff built in apps and plug ins may not be nearly as enticing anyway :)

Without CV giveaways, there's a fair chance I won't use SG anymore.
I love the community here, but I never ever look at public giveaways. That's not why I come here. If there are ONLY non-CV giveaways, what will be here for me? Previously, public giveaways were a cesspool of scammers, fakers, and takers who contribute nothing. I go to CV giveaways to AVOID those people. Has that changed since I stopped looking at them?
I like CV giveaways. I like giving, and getting my CV up, to get into rarer CV giveaways. That's the kind of person I am. I like getting my number higher, and associating with other people who also got their number higher. THAT'S what I come here for. All of that is going away in the current v2.
Not everyone who gives gifts is like me. Some people surely give for the pure joy of giving. But some people ARE like me. I want that CV filter!
I had planned to do a big giveaway this month, partly because it's my birthday but also partly because I could boost my CV by 165 just with games in my inventory (3 of which are on the Our Wishlist page). But now that it looks like v2 is coming soon I probably won't, because the CV will be useless.
Again, not everyone is like me. But I doubt I'm alone.
Comment has been collapsed.
You are not alone, I am very much like you too. But what I understood from some support folks is that CV brings so many tickets to them, it drives them crazy (hey, wbarton, did I get this right?)...
I am very sad to see it go, and lack of CV will remove one of the incentives to give, at least for me. So, here is my personal vote to keep CV working, if possible at all.
Now, of course, if that is not viable for the reasons some support people already mentioned, if there is no hope to just ignore CV-related tickets... well, we cannot make everybody happy at the same time, it is ok. :(
Cheers!
P.S.: To end in a positive note -- this site is awesome, and the new site is awesomerester, CV or no CV.

Here's my post from the beta page (probably makes more sense to have the discussion here, since that site will get wiped when the Open Beta ends):
I'm not thrilled either, but I haven't done a truly public giveaway in a while. I much prefer group or private giveaways.
At least with the inclusion of automated Blacklists/Whitelists, you can just do giveaways for people you've already tagged, without having to be in a group with them.
If you wished, you could have your Whitelist be nothing but high CV people, and so when you wanted to do a high CV giveaway, you'd just do a giveaway for your Whitelist.

The new site offers whitelist giveaways, so that'll help to provide an alternative in some ways. For example, if you create frequent giveaways, or events on the forum, more users will take notice and whitelist you, and you'll get access to their exclusive giveaways. I know I'll be whitelisting users that contribute quality games on the site, and offer giveaways to them on a regular basis.
More importantly though, we're only testing the site without a contributor system. Launching the new site seems like the perfect time to try that out. If we realize a number of people would like the contributor system to return, or if we notice it's resulting in less giveaways, then we can bring back all the existing contributor values and be back to where we started. I'm hoping no contributor system will help push the site back to the original concept of gifting for the sake of gifting and not for trying to find ways of exploiting the contributor system, and I'm hoping it'll result in a friendlier atmosphere in the discussions and community as a whole. In short though, I have no idea if it's the right move, there are arguments both ways and we can debate it all day long, but until we try it out, we'll never know.

Thank you for your reply, and for the awesome site we've all been enjoying for a number of years. I appreciate hearing your thoughts on CV.
Whitelisting is not a replacement for CV. CV is automatic. CV goes up when the winner receives their game. Whitelisting requires effort. You have to ADD people, individually, to a whitelist. I don't have to know the participant under the CV system. I DO have to know every single participant under the whitelist system. They are not the same thing at all.
CV has problems for sure though. Exploiters. Bundles. People not understanding the system and complaining. People understanding the system and complaining anyway. I'm not saying CV is perfect, I'm saying it's better than nothing, which is what is replacing it under v2.
And, I sympathize for the struggles Support has to go through. But, some of that could be alleviated under v2, instead of dropping CV entirely.
Automatic vs effort. I'm all for automatic every time, haha.
There's actually a lot I would change about CV. (Why is a $5 game with 100% positive reviews worth as much CV as "$5" shovelware that's 90% off with 90% negative votes? Why is a great game worth nothing if it's been in a bundle once three years ago?) But again, it's better than nothing at all.
However! Despite saying all that, it does seem like you really want to try out a non-CV system. And since it's your site, you make the rules here, haha. So it looks like a non-CV system it will be.
I can only hope that it comes back at some point, since that is the kind of site I personally want to use. And I hope the community is still here if that day comes. Because I'd rather give my games away here than anywhere else.

I think that your idea about saying how much ones get CV is great. I like it a lot but... there is one problem with it. When bundle comes out there will be still info about "full cv" before moderator mark those games as bundled. And there will be still shitload of "generous people" demanding to get full value "because site said" that those games were not considered as bundled ones back then. Besides that i'm totally with you.
Comment has been collapsed.
Given that I'm not a big fan of the CV system in its current form, I think I might like having CV eliminated. You're right that getting rid of the reward for making giveaways makes the site more about simply gifting your extra games, giving others something they might not be able to get for whatever reason, and spreading the joy. While having no reward might make some people less likely to create giveaways, I think it will also make other people more likely to create giveaways. Any change to the CV system is likely to have that kind of result though. No matter what you do to it, it seems very difficult if not impossible to satisfy everyone. So I wouldn't worry about the number of giveaways dropping tremendously because there's no CV. If giving people effectively zero credit for gifting bundle keys didn't cause a massive drop in giveaways, eliminating CV completely shouldn't either.

Is that what happened though? I'd be curious to see the per-capita level of giveaways over time. I know that I personally have stopped myself from giving away a game that I saw on sale, simply because it was already on the bundle list. Even games that I really like! (Braid, Blocks That Matter, Portal 2....)
In fact, my inventory is mostly full of games that I originally purchased to give away here, but have since been bundled, so I haven't (and won't). Of course, like I've said before, not everyone is like me.
I'd still be curious to see the per-capita numbers though.

I've got a number of un-used bundle keys that I already have in my library, but because they're bundled, I've never bothered to create giveaways for them. Of course, once you get your CV over $100, there's very little incentive to raise your CV further.
Comment has been collapsed.
Obviously different people have different experiences. But since giving away only bundle games caps you at $30, and the only way to get above that is to give away non-bundle games, at some point that kind of makes bundle games worth zero CV. To sum up my situation: I gave away three Steam inventory items, had $45-$50 or so of CV IIRC, then the CV system changed, my gifts were also in bundles, my CV was dropped to the $30 max despite not giving away keys, and I stopped making giveaways. Since I generally don't buy games specifically to give away, nearly all the extras I have to gift are bundle games where I bought games I wanted and got some others I already owned. And since I won't get the CV reward for gifting those bundle games here, having already reached the cap, I don't. If CV goes away, I'll have more incentive to gift my spare games than I do now.
Comment has been collapsed.
True, but to me there's a difference between getting no reward for my gifts because they're considered effectively valueless under the current CV system and getting no reward because there's no reward to be gained. I'm not encouraged to gift in the first case, while I am in the second.

There was a discussion about alternatives to the current CV system on SGv2, which might be lost now, but most of the content ist still available in this giveaway description.

The account points tab is too dark I can barely read it.
My biggest problem with it, it's going to break steamgift plus wich is the only way to filter games properly, highlight wishlist games, add endless scrolling and more. I play on a mac and had to manually filter all the non mac games myself with SG+ (plus all the games I just don't want), steamgift is finally looking nice and organised, all this is going to be lost in the V2.
You should propose a way to manually filter games because even if (and that's a big IF) some people are willing to code a new SG+ for the V2 we would still have to make those filter list again (mine is HUGE, I have several hundred games filtered).
Just a simple filter by OS would be great, a manual one like SG+ would be awesome, since you are coding mostly from scratch it would be a good time to implement all those extra features.
Comment has been collapsed.
you can manually set filters on SGv2 - go to Account ->Settings -> Giveaways. There you have 3 options: Hide giveaways for games you already own?, Hide giveaways for DLC if you're missing the base game?, Hide Additional Games.
If you click little crossed eye icon on main page next to GA it will ask you "Would you like to hide all giveaways
for Game Title?" You can then manually remove this game from your filtered list oin settings page.
Also SGv2+ is being developed as well - team that tookover SG+ after Kat dissappeared got invited to closed beta at the start of it just to have time to develop SGv2+ ;) So worry not - you will have your endless scrolling, grid view and other options besides extra filtering options of SGv2 ;)

Not just the points tab, all of them (except for the one you're currently at, naturally).

I may have missed it if this topic was covered but is there any way to view all threads made by a user.
Kinda hard to track down a page if I didn't receive a reply on it.
Also, I really like the new layout. Nice to see some major improvements like Whitelists be implemented.
Comment has been collapsed.
you can view all discussions you created - go to Discussions and then click My Discussions -> Created at the bottom left - it will show you all your previous topics. Clicky for the list
Comment has been collapsed.
Can we also see list of threads made by other users from their profile.
Though I understand why that's not implemented as it seems a tad stalker-ish.
I really appreciate the new feature. Also, thank you for replying.
Comment has been collapsed.
It was implemented in previous buid but I guess it got disabled for a reason. Also I may understand the reasons - stalking is just one of them, but also preventing witch-huts associated with calling out or disabling it for sake of puzzle-makers (easily accessible list of all previous topics/puzzles made by certain puzzle maker, often with solutions to them would make solving his other puzzles much easier).
Comment has been collapsed.
I had a feeling it would have something to do with puzzles. Some puzzlers leave hints in vague topics they make.
Again, thanks for clarifying.

Hey SG, it's finally time for beta testing our new site! Please take a minute to read the below, and remember all giveaways on the beta site are fake, and setup for testing purposes. Enjoy the site, leave some feedback, and hopefully we can get it polished up and live ASAP.
