Yep, there is another imminent Grez event -- how does that make you feel?

Here's the rest if you want some more to not be able to un-see. I think I saw it for the first time in a thread here where people were posting the weirdest videos they knew of.
Probably NSFW youtube link
Also, link to Know Your Meme for metal crotch guy

Classic.
I have a bit more technical work to do tonight for a high-level job that I'm attempting to land (think I'm a dark horse candidate, but you miss out on 100% of the attempts that you don't make :) ), but I should be able to finish up the last bit of code I need to do tomorrow night, and then launch this thing later in the week. š

Ok, just a quick update...All of the real coding is done. I've sorted through all of my keys for the event and categorized them properly. The only things left to do are create the trains and then add the appropriate link data into my code and this thing will be ready to go.
I plan to launch it on Friday the 31st! Get your points prepared! ššš

Testing of the...program...has gone well. No issues so far, so I'm working on building the trains now. Then, the train addresses go into the code, and then it gets recompiled and is ready for the event.

Ha ha ha...yeah, sorry, it was late and I was confused. It went well. I killed it. But now I don't think that I want the job. It looks like the reason that it pays so much (and was work-from-home!) is that you end up with monitoring software on your PC, and the touted salary is really just total pay potential, i.e., you're an incredibly-highly-paid hourly worker. So, the monitoring software takes a mugshot of you every so often, and it also monitors your keyboard input on the expected applications. If you're not typing or absent (because it doesn't see your face), then you don't get paid for that chunk of time. I mean, I get it, you have a company with a completely remote workforce, and they don't want people clocking in and getting paid for doing nothing. But, the whole thing feels Kafkaesque, intrusive, and impersonal, and I really don't think that I'm ok with it. It's disappointing, because I worked and studied hard to be qualified for it, and I made that final 1% cut. But it feels too creepy, and I'm a company culture guy, and I don't think that I can get on board with that culture.
It's ok...I'm pursuing a couple of other real opportunities, so hopefully one of those will pan out. They're a little more traditional, and I'd have to show up at an office every day, but they're both close and I can live with that, at least for a while.

Yeah, so I have to take this ridiculously long professional test tomorrow (searching for my next career step...proving to be evening more irritating than expected), and I should already be in bed, but I'm feeling kind of paranoid about it and I can't sleep. So, instead, I figured I'd work on a bit more code and then head for bed, but then I felt the need to make a poll first. Procrastinate much? I'll get back to you on that later.
"But wait," you may be saying, "did you say 'code?'"
That's right: code. I'm writing freaking code for this next event. Event? Yes, event. It's one I actually cooked up late this past year, but haven't had much time to dedicate to it. But the time is now drawing nigh...and I have only a tiny bit of code left to finish before I can launch the thing.
What does it mean that I'm writing code for this? How in the world does it apply? You may never know the answer! Oh wait, that's not true at all...you'll all know exactly what I'm obtusely and irritatingly being vague about in a week or so. I promise that this event will be completely different from any others that I've done and is also a themed event. Let's just hope that it doesn't suck, because I put a lot of work into it. š¤£
So get excited! I will have useless but (hopefully) entertaining stuff for you to do soon! Until then, you can express your anticipation with this meaningless poll! Huzzah!
