People won't bother risking loss of reputation for 1$ item. They could be getting massive amount of legit +rep (on SG) and legit trades for years.
But easy $1200+ can make a difference, right?
It's similar to companies, if they want to scam anybody, it will happen in the least expected moment and will be one-time only.
Hell, I don't trust even myself considering how big power I have regarding ASF, that would be dozen of thousands of dollars at least, if not hundreds.

btw gave the ww knife away to some guy coz hes been supportive and well fuck it. started with nothing when i woke up. better go to sleep with nothing too. edit: this guy gambled it, trying to win some money back for me and lost it haha. couldnt trade back his knife for my knife even if i wanted too

Not sure what you mean or copied. But, if he is claiming that, he could have just stashed it in another account.
My advice is that you try through all avenues open to you. Not too sure how effective law enforcement will be given the distance, but it's worth a shot.
Maybe even tell the guy who made the giveaway.

You should be more careful, it's a lot of cash. But you learned your lesson, i suppose. The hard way, but it still counts if you won't do such mistake again.
Be sure to report him on SteamRep asap. Be sure to link the screenshots, uncropped with no censoring (like his name censoring). There is a guide on the site, which should make the report smooth.
Next time, better post here, to a trader, or even at reddit.com/r/globaloffensivetrade if you're seeking advice with selling CS:GO items. Always request a middleman (although be careful, there are lot of fake middlemans) for trades if you're new.
Profile comments DOESN'T EVER COUNT as a reputation. In fact, people even pay others to post a shiny +rep comment on their profile. Request a rep thread from a rep group (http://steamcommunity.com/groups/CSGOREPorts i.e.) AND contact a middleman at the same moment. Also, check their SteamRep, if they haven't been already banned on there!

I wish You could get your knife back... Steam protection with Steam Guard made all those scams even worse. Why? BEcause once You confirmed the trade via mobile it's done. Back then You could always ask suppoer to help You retrieve your items back... Perhaps You can do it beven now but not sure... PErhap it's worth a try? I am here to help if You ever wanted to try! You wouldm need to have a lot of patience though to deal with 10-20 bot replies and such.
And yeha, I hate scammers and recently people too... I've been facing so many bad things and unfair people/scammers/liars/cheaters that I've totoally lost hope in humanity. I can't even imagine how one could scam anyone fo $10 while someone was so greedy to scam for that much, omg... I wish I was a dog... or be dead at all.
PS. You know what? I am actually sure You might report all that on police. No, that's NOT a joke. I've done that back when I was still a child (well, my parents did) and I got back 100PLN (about $30 that time) since that was what myVIRTUAL items were worth. I couldn't even believe at first how easy it went. They located the thief, contacted his parents (since he wasn't an adult yet as well, lol) and well, I got my shit back. today, randomly looking through my twitter feed saw a tweet about retweeting to winning 1 of 5 cs:go knives. there were already about 76k retweets so my chances were pretty slim and my retweet was pretty much within the last 30minutes. (thank the rng gods)
anyway i won a sapphire bayonet (noticed when my email suddenly received a whole bunch of mail saying ppl liked a tweet i was mentioned in.)

the things is i don't really play cs:go (i have 14hrs lol) so i decided to try and sell it to someone who would appreciate it more than me. found out it was worth around $1200-$1350. so i'm like hell yea. money i can put forward to good use.
anyway found a guy who offered me $1250. sceptical at first ( and i shulda stayed suspicious) but eventually he offered to throw in a well worn knife.
at the time i was also on the train (even missed my stop lmao) so i didnt take as many precautions as i should of. honestly i'm such a dumbass and was over excited. i didnt notice he had just edited his paypal balance. there wasn't even a fucking dollar sign next to it
